  1. I know what you mean. I just bought a SD2100v2 from Rob about a Month and a half ago and it's been great. It won't be my last from him either.
  2. Wow, what a day you had......but....... The snake didn't bite you. Your detector works dispite the cliff slides it took. It didn't rain. Your ankles are in tact from the cobbles. You drank enough to keep off the heat stroke. And you did it all outside instead of wishing you had of done something last weekend. =============== There's always next weekend and a new hill. I wish you better success next time.
  3. What a success story. I look forward everyday coming in to hear the stories from the guys and with success like this it makes it all worth it. Congrats. (The Desert bloom's have my allergies going haywire) P.S. I'm betting Leaverite got the mother of nuggets today and is grinning just reading this. Good Job Guys.... (Glad to see that Rattler stayed right where it was and you didn't get suprised. I dusted off my snake leggings weeks ago but thanks for the pic of the snake. The proof is in the picture.)
  4. Well if this image don't beat all ! I expect this image to make the pic's on Rob's site with all the other finds. Thats an amazing batch of gold and has got me itchin' to fire up my gold sniffin' 96' front wd Taurus 'Gold colored of course' and set off next weekend with the SD2100v2. By the way thanks for 'The Nuggetshooters Bible' Vol 3 from Jim Straight I picked up from you the other night. This book is awesome and I hope to put some of Jim's tips as well as your own to work. Was nice meating Leaverite the other night too. It's nice to put a face to the forums and you both are great people and I look forward to getting a call one of these days to hit the trail with you some weekend too. Ya got my #. Don't be shy. Remember my weekends are wide open. (hehe).
  5. I will keep an eye out form them to hit on Ebay or in the classifieds on the boards. I hope we can help recover these for you.
  6. You the Man Pondmn ! Won't be long till you'll have your own private line to the assay's office. hehe
  7. Thanks Rob, Well, I thought it best to throw up here on the boards and see if I was getting railroaded out of that area or not. the guy was in a Truck drivinb in front of me as I had just past Octave. He stopped at the junction there where it points and tells where all the club areas are. He got out and then walked back to my car asking me if I was lost. That's when I told him I was new to the area. After warding me off about BLM land he then headed south down the road skating the western side of Rich hill. I asked if there would be any problems with just going down that road to see what the land looks like and thats when he told me "Awe, there's BLM land that way and if you get stopped, just having the detector with you on BLM land is enough for them to take it". I then asked 'How can I tell if I am on BLM land or not?'. He said ' Ya can't ! thats the problem'. Well, I am glad you straightened me out on this guys Cock-N-Bull story. Thanks again,
  8. Hello everybody, Had a fun weekend with the SD2100v2 nugget shooting from Rich Hill all the way to the top of the Bradshaw's. Well, I loaded the car Thursday night and got an early start at 4:30AM as I headed east of Wickenburg, AZ to Rich Hill. I have read so much about this area I wanted to give the Mindlab's a chance to sniff out some of those overlooked nuggets. Well, I was quickly educated by the local's of the importance of joining the clubs in the area if I had any aspirations of getting to go nugget shooting. I was told about the 5 local clubs as well as a warning about accidentally nugget shooting on BLM land (I didn't like the sound of a $395.00 fine and my MIndlab's getting conficated.) So, I was allowed to do some Nugget shooting with one of the club members there who had a MIndlabs 3000 w/ a huge coil. (Rich Hill Area pic.) The ground I was told had been picked over by 100's of nugget shooters but I was not detered. The ground was covered with rose quartz with iron stains. The signs looked good to me. about an hour into sweeping I found great pile of ancient nails. another hour went by and I got a faint tone. I started digging and found whatever I had found in about a 10" sedimentary rock. I started picking away on it till I got to the center where I found either a piece of Lead or Silver (see pic of metal piece to the right of the penny). After backfilling in the dig hole I found another sliver of metal under a cactus. (piece to the left of the penny). Now if I had found a nugget of anything to date I would be able to tell you what I had but I am not sure. I hear tell there's silber in the area but I think it's lead. that one piece of metal in the rock, that deep would be a strange place for a slug to be found. Well, I packed up after sweeping the fields below Rich Hill for 3 hrs and headed south of Prescott, AZ to a lead I had in Groom Creek area. I heard there was a ledge there with a 6 inch ore bearing quartz vein on the hillside somewhere in the area. Looking for leads I happened upon a road named "Old Miner's Rd.". With a lead like this I couldn't pass up a look-see. Sure enough I went up the road about 200 yrds where I saw an overhanging rockface with a quartz vein. Problem was, there's a house now above it and below it and it's in someone's backyard. (used the binoculars to see the vein.) Well not too disgouraged I followed the cliff down and around the corner wheere I found the same vein but broken up as the cliff had a rockslide breaking up that end of the quartz vein. sweeps yeilded nothing. I was not done yet and I proceeded south again on Senator's Hwy in my 2wd Ford Taurus (I know, I am going to get a worthy 4WD soon) on a stage route heading to the back of Crown King. I checked 2 or 3 locations along the Bradshaw Schist. I came upon a mine that I saw across a canyon. The tailings were bright Yellow with all the old mining equipment rusted and caved in. As I moved around the road I caught good angle on the mine entrance. (see pics) Talk about a perfect looking mine entrance. The site was marked No Traspassing, Keep Out!" So, I did. Would have loved to have scanned the tailings. It was a great day in the beautful Weaver's and Bradshaw Mountains. Can't wait till I hit my 1st nugget though. I'm not giving up ! Mike McDaniel
  9. Hi Bob, I was talking to someone just the other day about the roll up solar panels. I keep up pretty good on solar energy and researched these about a year ago. The new pliable, roll up solar panels put out about 30% more power than the standard rigid silicate solar panels and store alot better. The other nice thing about them is you can put them anywhere, the dash, on top of your tent. Heck, I even knew someone who put one on the top flap of his backpack when treking. It's the way to go if you are treking into the wilderness and you don't have a vehicle handy. Please let me know how it works for you,
  10. Hello Ron, I was moving south from Cleater in the gulch and sweeping the outcropings above the gulch as well. I really love the new Mindlab's SD2100v2. I have no problem ground cancelling manually and I get alot of hits but unfortunately I should start an old nail collection. I am not discouraged though. I know I will fill a 5 gallon bucket on average of trash before I hit gold so I stay with it. I read in an article from Jim Straight where it was recommended to take a super magnet in the field with me so I don't have to keep digging up trash so much. I know that many times where there's trash should not stop me from shovelin' away anyway but I think about how much time I would save if I knew 'there's ferrous below the coil'. Look forward to heading out with you one of these weekends. I'm busy this weekend but I am going to do rich hill friday morning for the 1st time then heading to a church event in Prescott through Sunday. I can't wait to hit my 1st nugget. Talk to you soon (Great Website and thanks for the pics of your nuggets with leaverite last weekend. contrats)
  11. Thanks Bob, Yeah, I intend to pick Rob's mind abit and I will look up the past posts too. I picked up a book called 'secret gold nugget patches of Arizona #2' and have been going over some of the info in there. Not really looking for them to tell me 'Where's the gold is in them thar' hills' but what to look for when prosecting. looking for the 'inverted 'V's' on topo and geo map's and such. I'm Sure that Rob's book he said he just got in has a bunch too. Rob said that he would meet me on a weekend to do some Nugget Shooting with him. I found that the SD2100's easy to manually balance and I had no problems with it at all. THanks for replying to me and I am sure I will have many a story and questions in the future.
  12. Hello all, I picked up my SD2100 a few weeks ago from Rob Allison and have been out scanning the Bradshaw's every Saturday since. Don't have a truck or 4-wheeler yet and been hitting every trail in my Ford Taurus till I get more appropriate wheels. I am getting better with the Minelabs everytime. I can fill a bucket with nails and tin faster than ever now. I don't get disgouraged though. I just keep a shootin' and a' diggen'. I used to relic hunt in Texas alot in the 80's but now I'm strictly Nugget Shootin' I already know I have alot to learn and have the sense to know how to listen to those that already know what their doing. I work from home weekday's and do alot of research on the weaver's and Bradshaw's. I'm lookin' to learn how to read the stratas and schist's to at least know what's promising and whats not. Hope to get to know many of you in the future and like the forums. See Ya in the Saguaro's. Mike McDaniel
