  1. That is a very good lookin nugget. Keep em comin. Onion Gold
  2. Re the black coil. They were the original issue with the GP Extreme and will work fine with the 3K (the 3K will probably hop it up a bit) My best finds were with the 18 inch black coil with the GP Extreme. They are a bit heavy but developed for the Minelab, work great. I have used the aftermarket coils but haven't had any better success with the time in field use comparison. Onion Gold
  3. I think this is a very good explanation re the halo effect. Makes sense that the hard packed soil will hold the halo better than the soft of fluffy soil. The soft or fluffy soil cannot hold the leached metal in one place due to it dissipating or spreading out further away from the target. As for the VLF, not sure they are sensative enough to register the halo effect. Im sure this reply will get me a ration. Doug
  4. It is the part of the nugget that is not gold that creates the halo, regardless of the ingredient. silver, copper, chocolate chip. Onion Gold
  5. I want to thank Rob for the fast delivery of the Pocket Rocket battery stysem. His fast and prompt service was more than I asked for. I got everything I asked for and more. I would recommend Robs Detector Sales to anyone without hesitation. ( This kind of service is not common these days) Onion Gold
  6. Grubstake, Glad you made it through the ordeal. Follow the Dr"s orders and you may be able to hunt for a few more years. Best wishes, Doug
  7. Maybe when you get tired of hunting that patch you can give out the directions to it. Seems to be the thing these days. Well, you may decide to wait a while. Onion Gold
  8. I tend to agree with you Rob. Deam come ture could be a nightmare? Onion Gold
  9. Those are real beauties, persistance sure pays. Congratulations.
  10. This 3 dwt. beauty was found with GP Extreme and DD Coil. Depth about 8 in. I was working a new area with a lot of trash. Other photo is with a smaller nugget encrusted in iron something something. Onion Gold
  11. I have tried finding gold with a Gold Bug (original) three models of Whites (gold Machines) Swung a Whites gold machine in Rye Patch for 5 days, found a lot of trash. Bought a Minelab and started finding gold???? Go figure. Onion Gold
  12. Dug approx 2 ft. However the measurement was taken by the person who found it.
  13. Latest Rye Patch Nugget found by friend and hunting partner. Found March 11 th, weighed 2.6 Oz. found with ML 4000 w/coiltek 14 in Mono.
  14. Montana, I think you are partially right, it has been in a fire but most likely not a camp fire. I dug it in a tailing pile. It was encased in a hard white substance, not unlike the nuggets found in northern Nevada. The visible yellow portion was just a discoloration on the surface. At first I thought it to be lead.
  15. I thought this was a nugget, dirtiest one I ever saw. After cleaning, definately not a gold nugget.
