  1. Hi Guys, for years I subscribed to all the outdoor magizines, Outdoor Life, Fur Fish & Game, Trapper /preditor caller, ect, and lately the mining ones have held my interest. But this week my brother let me know about a new magizine that I think pretty well sums it up for me. Does this fit any of the rest of you too? later treetop
  2. Thanks chris, I looked up the lr2000 page you posted and it looks a lot different than the one I tried to use several years ago. I never could find a tutorial on the old one. I'll print out the one on the current site and work my way through. I'm still trying to finish up my farm work for the year and then I can have some time this winter to check things out. Thanks again for your willingness to help. later, Treetop
  3. Hi Reno, Treetop here. I lurk a lot and post a little on several of the forums that you also use , and you often point people to the lr2000 site from the BLM. Some time when you have the time could you please post up a tutorial that would help some of us computer challange guys to learn how to use the 2000. Thanks in advance Treetop
  4. While working for a local construction company I was called to dig out a power pole that had been hit by lightining. Where the current went into the groung it had turned the soil and sand into bubbly green glass, and the pieces of sandstone were a white chalky stuff. as the current went deeper into the groung it forked of into several different branches. Just like the roots on a tree. It was pretty weird stuff. I should still have some of it around here some where. Later, Treetop
  5. Whats4supper, Thanks for all of the good tips and advice. I've made a list of maps to order and when I check out tonight I'll set my printer to print the USGS papers. There are a lot of us that read a lot on the forums but post very little. To have someone resopnd like you have makes us feel safe in asking what might be some really stupid questions. Thanks for the info and the encuoragement. Treetop
  6. Thanks Chris, I'll try to dig it up. A guy can learn more about a new area by studying than he can in a week of wandering around lost. And the study can be done a little each day to try and feed our gold fix. Where as the week trips are few and far between. Treetop
  7. Reno Chris, I have a question, I read in your post about the USGS publication 1361 that has the info on Gold and Lost Basins. I spent a long time on the web looking to see if I could find if anything like that had been done for the Gold Butte area. So far I've found a whole lot of nothing. Do you know if there was ever a publication done on Gold Butte. Thanks Treetop
