  1. Well folks it's started.... The very tip of the iceburg. Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day I went down town and went into a shop I was only in there for about 5 minutes and when I came out there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I went up to him and said, "Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break"? He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a "Nazi." He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a "doughnut eating Gestapo." He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't care. I came down town on the bus - and the car that he was putting the tickets on had a bumper sticker that said "Hillary in '08." I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. It's important to my health. And then there's this: http://www.michaelhodges.com/missing.html Have a good evening...... Dave
  2. Iggy It could be worse. I got a friend that if he decides he wants a new Harley his wife gets a diamond of the same value....... The last one he bought ran him into the low 30s....... Count your blessings..... Dave
  3. Thanks for the tip Mike. If I'm able to get out bfore I move I'll give it a try. EOD... Are you running in the prospect mode?? Dave
  4. EOD How often did you find yourself having to rebalance your detector. Here in Az I find I have to ground balance every 10 or 20 ft in most areas due to ground conditions. Dave
  5. Doc You and I got some things in common . I grew up in the Chicago area, Wheaton to be exact, we moved to Phoenix in '67. Dad lost a leg on Peleliu and couldn't handle the snow anymore. I also had those special trips into Chicago. We would go in on the train to Marshall Fields at Christmas, State Street for Movies, Dinner at the Mark on top of the Prudential building, The Field Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry. Remember the coal mine they had in the basement? How cool was that? Now Phoenix has turned to L.A. and I can't take it anymore. We used to picnic out at Rich Hill in the late 60's. We read about all the gold found there and tried our hand at panning in ignorant bliss..... The good 'ol days are now done . I have decided to move to the hill country of Texas where land is still affordable and find my own 10 acres of heaven . I guess we got off topic here but definatly worth it. May everyone have a very safe, happy, and prosperous new year. Regards Dave
  6. Now that's pretty funny........ Doc Regarding your above post. I to had a Dad alot like yours. He passed 6 years ago and I really, really miss him. He was my rock. I'm not sure if you indulge in the movie theater or rentals but there was a movie that came out a few years ago about fathers and sons called Big Fish. Well worth the watch.. Regards Dave
  7. Thank Bob HBD to all you other old farts as well Dave
  8. Bob Judging buy what you have had to say on some past posts and if that sample is the norm, I would say you have a very viable prospect . Congads and Good luck Dave
  9. I got the same thing. Norton cleaned it off and reported a trojon horse virus

  11. Rob As always, it was good chatting with you last nite. Gail and I swung up by the old slide last night and sure enough.... Gravel pit . I took the unit to the park by the house this morning and found a few coins and a small charm. The mexican boys play pickup soccar games in the field every nite so that could be interesting also... I'll get out next week or weekend to scratch some bedrock to try the prospecting mode. Thanks for the great deal Dave
