  1. David, It looks like you have been seriously afflicted with gold fever. Congratulations and I hope you have many interesting and memorable adventures. You write well, thanks for sharing your story!
  2. Bob, Great information, thanks for sharing some of your stories with us all! Jeff
  3. Shep, It was a good trip and nice to visit with you and Doug and Tom etc.... Thanks for the always great hospitality. Have to get out again soon. Jeff
  4. Shep, I will try to make it, it would be good to see the everybody again. South on Tom Wells Rd. The road is no problem for a side-by-side trailer or a much larger trailer. Jeff
  5. Rob, Thank you for a nice site, I think you have heard from some of the brightest minds in the SW US. Mike, the Toms, Lipca, etc. I agree with the comments..... However, I would just like to give you a heads up regarding any input Fred may provide, he is a former sheet rocker, enough said.... Hi Fred
  6. Mountains, Have you heard of the "Hip Stick" created by Chris Porter? It is a very simple and effective device to transfer the weight of the detector from your shoulder to your hip. It really does work very well, I use it and many of the nugget hunters I know swear by it, yep swearing from Brazil to Nevada and beyond! I think Bill S. and or Doc sell them, Chris G. too.... His site is detectoraid.com..... Nice find and continued success!
  7. Hey Jim, Thanks for keeping this alive, I have several of your books and enjoy them greatly. You have posted several mentions of Iron Canyon in the past... I was up that way a couple of weeks ago and it is sure interesting country.... I think I saw some seams of coal, it read somewhere there is coal there... I would't know if I stepped on a tertiary epithermal placer deposit. I did find lots of lead and brass up there and I was up some pretty steep draws... The Gold Bug 2 sure finds tiny bits of metal! Some parts of the El Pasos are loaded with hot rocks, but the area I was in had very few.... I did find a couple of small nugs on a rise north of Randsburg.... Lots of lead, brass and ferrous junk out there.... The General Store is still serving up good chow... Hope you are doing well and thanks again for sharing your education and experience with all of us. Jeff
  8. Rob, All I can say is WOW, your move to get assistance for Bill's situation is wonderful. I have had the pleasure of meeting Bill and he is a really good guy, always helping out anyone who needs it. I know many on the forums are praying for his wife and family, this is an amazing group of people.... Good on you Rob, Jeff
  9. Jim, My prayers are with you in this time of loss. Though we have never met, I have several of your books and have read your posts on the forums over the last several years. Your knowledge and the desire to share it with our community is appreciated by many. I hunt in the Randsburg area, (RMMA and surrounding areas), as it is near me. It is a peaceful feeling there. I find myself often thinking, I wonder what Jim S. would say about this or that.. Rock, hill, gully, was he ever in this wash or on that hill ? The musings of a wonderer.... So Thank You Mr. Straight for all you have done for so many of us, please know you are respected and cared for by many. God Bless You, Jeff Goddard
