  1. Thanks everyone for making me feel better that i didn't need the wall charger anyways! and honestly I can not blame the seller, because when i went back to the ebay description it did not say anything about a wall charger. I just assumed there should be one. He also did not mention anything about a car charger, so instead of me whining that i did not get a wall charger, i should actualy be thankfull to have recieved a car charger. No regrets.
  2. Hey, as some may know I have just bought a GP 3500 and received it just 2 days ago. As a first impression I think it looks great and as advertised. ( except for the part where it says used only 5 times and turns out to be no wall charger) Being it the first time that I own a detector, I just have one question? Is there a real reason for the settings to be on the rear (sound settings) I thought it would be easy to adjust and tweak and fine tune along the way while detecting, but it’s not. It seems heavy and a bit annoying to turn to the settings at the rear. So my question is like I said: Is there a reason for it to be on the rear rather than maybe on the side of the machine where it carries the name “GP 3500†(lenght) more suitable to tweak the settings or even recognise what setting your on? Sorry if I’m not making sense, I’m just new and maybe used to the Sound Studio Knobs where all are in front of me.
  3. I will have to say you are absolutely right about everything. My best education is that i travelled to different parts of the world understanding many cultures and people. My Advantage from all this is that i truly never rely on media, although I'm in the media business working as a sound engineer to CNBC and Dubai media city. Media at the end of the day is business and you have to have news to make money. We call it Salt 'n Pepper add on. We can't make money if we only say the truth. There isn't much tourists as in Dubai I would say, but still there are enough tourists and their joy really comes after entering Sudan. I always hear this sentence from mostly every tourist "I can't believe this, this is not what i expected" the problem is that these tourist only came to see some part of their family either working for the UN, Shlumberger, Shell, Agip, Total etc. which are all oil companies. So its not that he/she actually felt safe before or decided to come on his/her own untill probably someone from his/her relative or friends working for these companies in Sudan told them about it. Otherwise people would just rely on our info (The Media) True or false you will never know. I don't blame them the average person, how would they know? As for Hyundai, again. Its not a poor subsitute, its that Hyundai has the biggest share because of United States Boycot. Just like I mentioned about the detectors, all other companies mostly don't have service nor spare parts. Hyundai garages and spare parts are every 5km away from each other. There is no time for luxury. Its what can stay working. As for American cars only a really rich man would buy that for Showing off only, because if he/she even need brake pads, they will never find it. So yes Hyundai, Toyota, Mitsibushi would be the cars to buy in sudan, only so you don't become poor later , on the other hand BMW is an average Car in Dubai and American cars are the poor man's substitute. So it really works differently around the world. Only now that USA got into the crisis that other countries felt they need to increase their market share anywhere. Before that they were only scared that USA will Boycot them too. Sudan don't have UN sanctions only US sanctions, which means other countries could trade if they want to, but still as a country you would not want to piss off the USA, or they will bring you down too. All this is what makes me hate politics. Its all business and truly business, people can get burned and burried everyday and you will never hear about them unless there is a benefit back to the same person that reports it. The media at the end is only the face of the Salt & Pepper working for any government that pays the most. (highest bidder always wins) Hope I didn't get too political, but just trying to give you guys an idea of how 3rd world countries think. Its more of Power but no Respect. Thats the reason I only love my country and all its people but definately not my Government. Have an open mind, ignorance is the worst enemy. Thats my theme of life.
  4. you are right on that. Darfur is way far from Khartoum. As for golden king, they are selling it between 8k - 10k and delivery is fast, probably for now only. I heard an English man is teaching the people how to use it. So its reverse here, GPX 4500 costs 2-3 times a radar system
  5. Montana, great posts. I know its frustrating that its working the opposite there now. like you said instead of actually going for anything now before missing on those large nuggets and then can take your time to get a minelab later when only the small nuggets are left. I spoke to a friend today in Sudan after all these things we hear about the vlf detectors, but he couldn't confirm that is happening, but guess what? He confirmed that the company people are now after and doing well are the Turkish. The Golden King. Which proves even crazier, being it a radar system would miss small nuggets anyways if I was informed correctly. So instead of them going by your advice to get a cheaper detector even SD to get them big nuggets, they went for a higher priced one for probably the same performance. You see, since there are no actuall official dealers here, its basically what they see or is marketed practically. There is a huge community of Turks in Sudan. Not many American, Australian or westerners in general to show them. The Turks take it as an advantage that Sudan is represented badly in the media. It keeps the western competition away and makes it easier for their products in general. Im not only talking about detectors here but everything even shopping malls, prefab houses, foodstuff, restaurants etc. Most westerners actually think their entering Darfur and not Sudan. I even remember people scared to come to Dubai UAE because it says that its in the Middle East (bringing a picture of Iraq or Palestine to their mind) Thats why I'm against giving that name Middle Eastern War. Hello its 2 countries only in war, not the Middle East. Anyways my point is Minelab will slip in the market after a while, reason mostly being Service. Many machines need fixing and accessories. If the Turks play their cards right, they will open a whole Service center, Shops, Practical teaching etc. mind you that is already in the doing. Its just easier for them because normally Turkey & China take advantage of all countries that don't deal with the United States. Its just business Jen: i don't think dealers are taking advantage of the sales. These are all sold by people not dealers. Dealers don't have any. The dealer here in Dubai NTWO is selling @ $4995 but on a 3-6 month backorder. He is so pissed and keeps advertising to warn people that you do not get warranty. Who will need warranty as there is no Minelab service in Sudan anyways, eventhough the website says it has. (don't understand that)
  6. Alright then when the darfur war is over (hopefully soon) then you'll all come. Darfur is an untouched Haven of Gold, Uranium and Diamonds. Black Gold is crazy there but thats only for the governments or if one of you own a exploration company. Im scared after its over we'll have a hard time detecting, cuz you'll find bullets and a burried machine gun along the way
  7. Darfur is in Sudan, but c'mon do you know where that is? Sudan is the largest country in Africa and about the 7th in the world. Darfur is far far far away from the City Khartoum, but I can understand how the medias injustice can play for someone who wouldn't know.
  8. The French have been officially there for over 20 years now with a 60% - 40% deal with the government. Before that the British 1900- 1954 Gold is mined in Sudan, largely in joint ventures with Chinese or French companies. Reserves are estimated at 37 tonnes and are concentrated around the Red Sea Hills. The government says that extraction is now at a rate of around 5 t/y, but it is declining steadily as reserves are depleted. Sudan also has untapped deposits of minerals, including chromite, silver, iron ore, copper, lead, mica, asbestos, talc, tungsten, zinc, diamonds and uranium.
  9. Jen I assure you it is true about the Minelab and big Nuggets but don't know about them F75. @ the next flight to Sudan. Your all welcome anytime.
  10. Hey guys, I'm still in Dubai and I'm going to check this out as soon as I get back there soon, but Reno i agree with you from your prospective untill i see that those machines are really being used by the sudanese people. Honestly to me it just sounds like a scam now to raise other prices that were cheap enough so the market sharks benefit, but only the poor realising late, that it doesn't work. From what info you have given, the only way is that those nuggets are so upto the surface to find with these detectors, which i can assure you is not true. That is a big jump and only 2 reasons come to mind: 1: That maybe someone has seen it go through with these detectors ( which is another craze that I doubt) 2: Someone is just trying to benefit fast money and trick the people into buying it. (probably you'll never see those people in the country again after making their money) Now as much as fields try to be secret and as I mentioned before one's who rent free Minelab for 1/3 of the finds, and 1/3 to Logistics, 1/3 to the owner of the machine. This seems to be a bit suspicious about VLF detectors only if other fields have been really found, that others don't know about. Man, i honestly would hate this, if this was some kind of scam just to make money. The reason i need to write this here is so that anyone searching should read this thread and hopefully know what their doing before buying. I might me buying it for a new hobby i discovered from you guys, at the same time i wouldn't mind finding gold nuggets.,( i thank god for that blessing) but trust me that would not be the same for many here to buy something that wouldn't get its worth. I'm just waiting to go back and check for myself but i would sure be pissed off if this is happening with out benefit for them. Worse than a Nigerian Scam. If My detector doesn't come soon, I won't wait for it in Dubai. i really need to check this out. .
  11. oh and to also add, don't forget Google (people's way of life now and the best word of mouth) Now type anything in Google about how you want to know about metal detectors, and see where it will mostly lead you? It won't lead to adverts only! keep in mind i'm just talking International and according to IP adresses, so don't know what results you getting out there Congrats to your new addition Baby Girl, Mom & Pop and regards to all. Health, Family, Success & wealth to all of you.
  12. Very good point Leroy. More to it is any company that has the money can advertise, and yes you might get more profit for the time being. Now my experience is different into getting into metal detecting, I'm still waiting for my first Metal detector being it a GP 3500 ( sorry couldn't get anything new due to budget at this time and availability as its International) but the first person that comes to my mind is Rob for extra accessories. Not only that he comes to mind because he can sell me what I want, but actually advising me what i need. I have no experience whatsoever in the hobby, but feel content that someone will back me up. Its more to after sales. Yes we all get those promises from the best companies in the world, but does it really work? when you need them! This forum actually got me into just researching how things work so i can help some people out in my country. 3 days later everyone here tried to help with no expectations. 2 weeks later I wanted to buy a metal detector for myself. Truth is, I was surprised and all I wanted is to practice this new hobby which i found so interesting due to people here. But my point is, I'd rather join a Group who love what they do because they do, rather than a sales man promising me the impossible and make it seem easy. One thing i honestly think about, which is also important! is for instance: If Rob is too busy at any given day, I still have people here who will still help me, now if things get rusty, I can still reach the owner of the place by a message. Don't know if thats the way it normally works in the States, but for you to even talk to the owner of the place, you would need to pass the employee crew to get your view or complaint through. People who can actually follow their own Forum is a blessing to me, otherwise you can just talk to a monthly salaried person who is just waiting to go home when the clock hits 5, and you can't complain about it, cuz at the end you need them. This forum is where i got advice to the last second into buying my Detector (Thanks to Grubstake) and this Forum is where I'll be willing to spend money as it will give me my moneys worth. Every person i speak to wheather public and many PM, have all been giving me the advice to speak to Rob and deal with Rob. Now tell me which Advertisement is better than mouth? Allways will be the best and any sane person will think so
  13. at listening to loud rock. Rock on. Man Im just 30 and already lost my hearing especially the left ear.
  14. Good thinking Flak. I'm planning to run it through a frequency Analayzer, once I get my machine, but don't think home test will give it justice.
  15. Being the black sheep of the family and not joining the family bussines in jewelry (jewellery) but rather turned to music production, I had to pass those pics to my dad after it caught my eye. Now I don't understand what it really meant but he was like "Damn that looks better than extracted gold and making it into jewelry but rather the rough look into making it a gold accessory is what makes it look very unique, the colour just seems more real than extracted gold by itself" I did not understand a thing from that, but the expressions on his face gave it all. Nice one El Dorado and congrats to you Lucky
