  1. Hit the wrong button, anyway I will see how it goes. Fall is coming so it will be cooler out in the sagebrush. One thing I'm wondering about off the top of my head is-this machine has an iron ID thing on it,should I trust that or as I read somewhere recently, dig all targets? Thanks for the advice... utahjoe49er Joe Lundy
  2. Thanks Ron and Seb, Seb, my plan is to use one and my boy to use the other, but thanks for the offer. Ron,well more sensitive is a good thing it sounds like, right? I have seen some pics on this forum of some fabulous gold being found with Minelabs. I think what I will do is take the manual and take a short field trip to Nevada and try and learn how to run them. My boy,17,says "Yeah dad I can run this thing", but then again he has grown up and had a computer game in his hands for years. While the old man grew up in the stone age. A

  5. Hello to Everyone, I hope some knoweledgable, experienced, detectorists can give me a little advice. I am TOTALLY new to detecting. Recently I acquired 2 brand new {don't know the year they were made} White Goldmaster-3 detectors from a guy who owed me some money. He said he had never used them, bought them new and parked them in his closet ever since. The manuals to them are gone and I am going to see if I can get one from the manufacturer.I did put batteries in them and turned them on and they started squealing like hell when I turned knobs, so I know they work.I live in Utah and would love to learn how to detect for gold and make a bunch of trips next door to Nevada. My questions are many, but mainly what are the pluses and minuses of the GM-3 ? Easy to learn how to use? Are alot of nugget hunters out there using them? Has alot of gold been found with them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...utahjoe49er Joe Lundy
