  3. Grubstake, sorry to hear of your bad news, i know how it's one thing to deal with your own problems but when they hit are loved ones it's a different story. i will be praying for you and your wife. God bless you. harvey
  4. Grubstake, thanks for the response. i know that there are a lot of thing that could go wrong so we are going to make this as small as we can. i think we can do it. even if we have to delay mining for a while till thing cool off. we are not going to open pit. i just hope i catch a break on this one.
  5. this started about 4 years ago, a buddy and i were talking at a high school football game. i don't know how gold came up, but it did. in the conversation he told me about his fathers jointly owned property. old gold country that no one mined since the 49ers. he told me about it for years. he told me how a japanese mining company came out and offered 15 percent to them if they let them mine gold on there 5000 acres. well time passed and we were at another game, this time baseball. i told him about the new detector i just purchased. he told me we need to go out to his dads place. well i just had an injury and had to have a new acl put in my knee. i was on the first two weeks of my rehab when my buddy called me and said we need to get out there right now. the japanese mining company came back out and offered 25 percent. they say 2 billion in gold is down there. they drilled the holes and had the reports to back it. i went out there and met with my buddys dad, they like the fact of the gold being on there land but they don't trust the japanese mining company. i have a friend who has been a professional miner for over 30 years. my buddy's dad and partners are going to let us mine the land. we start in october. there are a lot of other details that i would love to share with you but i can't at this time. i'll let you know how this goes no matter if it is a bonanza or a bust. take care, harvey
  6. hello doc, years ago when i was in college i had a professor, Frank Barnes, taught criminal justice. he made up a flyer. he would take it to legislature and try to give them to people that were trying to pass or change the laws on the right to bare arms. he would say, if you have such strong feelings on gun control would you mind posting this on your front door. it went something like this. this home does not believe in the right to bare arms. this home does not contains any firearms. this home will not use force to protect itself in case of an intrusion. ect, ect, ect. he said, they would take the flyer and just give him a smerk and move on. everyone knows the laws on gun control will be used to take away guns from good people. the criminals will still get there gun no matter what the law regulates. the question is, why do they want to disarm the good people of this country.
  7. first of all buddy, i am no typical environmentalist and i take offense to your words. sorry to offend, i'm just stating what i saw, maybe senetor geramendi is a prospector.i wish him luck on his thousands of legal claims. i guess i am more in favor of a use it or lose it perspective. this might be the answer to people sitting on huge amounts of claims and never using them. it is becoming almost impossible to find places to prospect. every where you go there are no trespassing posted. i respect the law and obey it. i know that claiming a piece of land for mining purposes is a right and a privallege bestowed to us by our government. do i feel that this right can be abused though. i guess i come from the old school and hold to the saying, don't piss down my back and tell me its raining. i'm not that gullable.
  8. how or why would he need so many mining claims on his blm ranch leased land. i don't know if it is leased. i do know that there had to be over a thousand claims! and he is not a miner!!!! he is a cattle rancher. i have a hard time justifying this action. next question is if you say you cannot use a mining claim for non mining purposes what is he doing then, he is not mining and his cattle are all over those hills.
  9. some of this non sense is caused by some of the miss use of mining claims. here in california we have ranchers / politicians/ geramendi, that have actually thousands of mining claims in calaveras county. years ago i was checking on old mining claims and stumbled across all of his claims filed. i wonder if he even owns any land. he ranches thousands of acres, all under the miss use of mining claims. i don't want any laws passed restricting mining. but it would be nice to see some enforcment on illegal use of mining claims.
  10. sorry to hear about your loss, God bless you and your family.
  11. wow, i think i know who you are talking about. he just sold a whites tdi to my brother in law. i tried to talk him out of it but he was concinced this was the way to go, after watching the air test. the bad salesmanship didn't end there though. he offer to take my brother in law out to give him a field lesson and then renigged on the offer. said that he might be able to meet with him someday if my brother in law provides the location.
  12. my brother who i detect with is the deputy chief of police for sparks nv, i showed him the pics and he told me how to dispose of them. i did it that way so i didn't have to bother the local sherrif. he will be with me at rye patch on memorial day. look forward to possible meeting you. harvey
  13. i was thinking the same thing, there is a lot of ground to cover though. i know it been worked hard also. but smokey got three nuggets the day we met him.
  14. hello grubstake, sorry to see your uncle sell his gold, but at least he had it to help him through this time. i hope he find twice as much!!!! thanks for the advice on the blasting caps the other day, i also read that you are going to rye patch over memorial day, my brother and i will be out there then, we recently went out there about a month ago and met a guy by the name of smokey. he was very informative. maybe i will see you out there.
  15. great responces!!! thanks for all your info guys. i can only imagine what it would of been like if one of those blew up in my hand way out there. i was alone. it could have been a bad situation. two of the casing are empty. one is full. thanks again , harvey
