Hello Guys,

Chris Coffee - Thanks for those kind words. Like I have said a hundred times before, we run our business like we were the customers. We do our best with what we know to help, educate and give honest advice to get the customer(s) up and running. We appreciate your business and hope you stick with the prospecting/metal detecting. I'm also glad some other guys here on the forum were able to give you good advice and some tips on the Gold Basin region.

Clay & Ruby - I still remember getting a phone call from Mick about some people in the trailer park with this great software. I was pretty leary at first, but I trusted Mick's opinion and decided to meet with you. I'm just glad I was able to somewhat help to get the Footprints out there to all the people that are using them now with success (which is many).

Talk with you all later,

Rob Allison

Rob,

April and I have made a comprise and I am keeping my 5000 but she doesn't have any desire to do the nugget hunting anymore, which is why we are selling our GB Pro and our 705. She only wants do the coin/relic/jewelry hunting so as soon as we can get rid of them she wants to order the Explorer SE from you. I'm not giving up just yet.

Just wanted to stop in and say, That I absolutely had fun at gold basin minus the heat and tire issue... it was good to get away from Cali for a few days. I absolutely enjoyed meeting Frank C and his wife two of the nicest people I have met. Frank thank you so very much for your hospitality and knowledge you shared with Chris and I. I am defintely looking forward to going back and hanging out with you guys again. I was just really bummed that I spent 26 hrs in 3 days on foot with Chris in the heat and I did not find so much as a fragment of a meteorite or gold.. :( I know it takes patience and time but after almost two years I think its been going out with Chris in SO MANY different places and I have yet to fine so much as my first little nugget... Its kinda wearing on me especially here in Cali all I dig is bullets. Gold Basin was awesome such a clean place I did NOT dig any trash there. In fact there was a few times I had to check my dectector because I would go so long with out a target that I started thinking something was wrong with my detector.... LOL ^_^ But all in all it was a great stay in Arizona and I am anxious to go back in the fall or winter when it is much much cooler!

Chris and April, I would'nt give up on those two machines that you have. I have the Minelab Explorer II, the daddy to the E-Trac. There is a long learning curve to these machines, at least 50 hours min. I would save my money and learn your machines. Just my two centavos worth. Hendo :)

Hendo,

It's not that I am or want to give up on those machines... I just like doing the coin, relic and jewlery hunting and was looking to get a machine that would better suit that type of metal detecting... I am not sure the 705 will do that for me... I have already tested the gold bug pro out on it and unfortunately there was no way for me to descriminate the trash from the good targets with it.. I had to dig every last little noise it made... I have yet to be able to test the 705 out on it... I just know I want to have a machine I can use for the relic stuff and still be able to go out with Chris on his trips for nugget hunting... I am very easily disappointed when it comes to stuff and I guess this is what has happened with the nugget hunting I have been going out for a long while now with Chris and have watched him and others pull nuggets out of the ground he even got a little meteorite out of gold basin.... I again for the ummm teenth time walked away with nothing. I know that you can find more gold and silver doing the coin, relic and jewlery hunting which is why I have leaned more towards that type of detecting.. I mean it's like I told Chris it's sad when I have more fun metal detecting and digging up our front yard than I do going out to supossed gold bearing places... :( I just don't know what to do I guess.. Thank you for your advice though it is much appreciated... ;)

If relic hunting is your thing and you enjoy it.....go for it!

Nugget hunting is not for everyone.

I know a guy in CA. that has pulled more gold and diamonds off the beach then a lot of guys

get nugget hunting.

Hi Tom,

Good to hear from ya. She actually does enjoy the coin/relic hunting A LOT more than the nugget hunting. When we go out nugget hunting I am doing good if I can get her to swing for a couple hours, tops. She came home one night from nugget hunting with me and decided to detect our front yard. She was out there for almost 5 hours, and the only reason she quit was because it got so dark she couldn't see. She found a bunch of pull tabs and bottle caps, some wierd piece of metal that looks almost like a digging tool, and a 1947 penny. Man was she stoked! So that is why we have the GB Pro and the 705 up for sale is because I know she will have more fun with that type of hunting. Thanks for the words of encouragment to her.

Chris

You know, you might think about a White's MXT. It's half the price, easy to learn, has great descrimination, you can use it for gold if you want, and the best part is that White's will repair any machine they ever made! :) Hendo

Hendo,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I will make this as short as possible. I will NEVER buy another White's product. A little over a year ago I bought a White's GMT from APTS in Temecula, Ca. which is 120 miles from my home. I was told the unit was new and the box was sealed. I got it home and opened it up and the unit was clean but just didn't look new to me. I didn't think much of it, until I took it out to use it and the machine went crazy on me. I called White's and spoke with Jim Normandy who asked for the serial number. After running the number I was informed the unit was 1 year and 5 months old and was registered to the APTS owner. It was her personal detector! When I contacted APTS and asked for a NEW unit, like I paid for, they refused. Said it wasn't their problem and that's what the warranty was for. I then called White's back and asked if they were going to do anything about it, and I was told they were not going to get involved. On top of that, even though the unit still had almost 7 months on the warranty, I was informed I had to purchase a new coil as that was the problem with the machine. When I asked White's about the remainder of the warranty and why they would let one of their Authorized Dealers get away with selling me a used unit and telling me it was new, I was asked, AND I QUOTE: "Would you like to place the order for the new coil or not, sir?". GAME OVER.

Never had an issue of any kind with Fisher or Minelab, though. We may just grab another 705. Happy hunting.

Chris

Oldies thank you so very much I appreciate that.. I do enjoy the relic hunting a lot I am in no way saying I won't go out nugget hunting again. I most definitely will because I love to go and hang out with Chris. I go and dig all his targets lol just like I know he will go with me when I relic hunt as he has stated he enjoyed going with me to the beach doing detecting. So I think it will all work out great in the end for both of us no matter what we will spend a good fun time with each other... ; ) agin thank you all for all of the advice it is most appreciated!

Chris and Queen...the x-705 is fully qualified to do all the things you say you want to do with a vlf...I realize you have a friend that uses the Explorer...it is a great machine. It is also an extremely heavey machine and requires serious application to fully appreciate.

I use my x-70 at the beach in dry and wet sand, I use it at the parks when I want to get a little detector fix and I have found some grain sized nuggets out in the Dales...it will with the proper coil do it all.

In my last park trip I found a 1903 barber dime, a wheaty and the usual junk, the trip before I found an old silver coin that someone holes and made into a necklace, before that another barber dime and wheaties/junk...a few week earlier a 10k mens bracelet worth about 300 in gold value, the trip after that a womans 14k ring worth about 100 in gold...pounds of junk coins at the beach...you get my point...

I like my x-70 but it took a while to get to know it...I could know it better but for my use it is fine...the Xterra-705 is even better than the x-terra-70...

Fred Thank you so very much for the advice I talked with Chris not 100% sure yet but keeping the X 705 might be a big possibility. I told him I wouldn't have a problem with that... ;)
