Anybody done any detecting in the Illinois River area of Oregon, near Cave Junction? Can't seem to find much info on the web, but heard about everything is claimed up. I was told that a large section of the river from west of Selma, downstream to the wilderness area is a withdrawn area, and panning and detecting are allowed there.

Hey Freezn,

I will be in Oregon on the 24 of this month to explore Bolivar Mt. and the Illinois/Appelgate area. I only have 2 weeks and then back to Hawaii. I am new at this but know that pocket gold was the hunt for the old timers from the Illinois to the Applegate drainage with its share of nuggets. The Elusive Pocket Gold Of South Western Oregon by Tom Bohmker is a fun read if you have the time. I think he is located in Independence Or.
