Hopefully SOON-We have become a land of Sheeple, too lazy to work for a living at honest hard labor, too willing to turn our backs and have the illegals do it for us. We do not have much personal pride in ourselves and that is destroying our once proud nation. Perhaps the "older generation" among us can keep our act together and help the wayward recover before it is too late. This great nation is slowly sinking into quicksand. Being a "proud AZ country boy", these observations make me cry at times. God bless this country and let us stand tall again

Thanks Doc. To all my brothers who serve now, have served and have gone on before, from 1776 to the present, may God bless you and hold in the palm of his great hands.

I would have to politely disagree with some of your statement. Corporate American Greed has a lot to do with the labor problems we have in our country. I, for one, would NEVER want an illegal to do my job. But I also WILL NOT bust my tail for mere pennies either. The problem is that business owners (not all) would rather hire cheap labor than pay a good honest days wages to a citizen. The odds of a company getting popped for hiring illegals is slim nowadays and they know it, so they hire the illegals so they only have to pay minimum wage, and they don't have to pay for things like unemployment, Workers Compensation, etc. If the CEO's and CFO's of big business wasn't so worried about having a multimillion dollar home for him and his wife (usually the kids are in college or living elsewhere), then we would have a better workforce comprised of citizens instead of illegals. God Bless America, but not the big wigs that run it!!!!!

Thanks for the post Doc. God Bless all the men and women who protect and serve. Chris I agree with what you have written. With unemployment at 10.4% nationally,(last I heard) I believe if the employers were held accountable and I mean personally, monitarilly and criminally held accountable, then the unemployment rate would fall. My thinking is that if there are approx. 20 mil. illegals working in the USA and they cant work anymore, then the employers will hire citizens to do the work therefore lowering the unemployment rate. I think it is crazy to think that "the illegals do the work that the citizens wont do". Everyone will work if they get hungry enough.

Sorry for rambling.

Doc thanks again for the post and thanks to everyone of you reading this that have or are currently serving to protect the USA.

I have a question for ya... there's two McDonalds restaurants less than a block from each other. One only employs college graduates, the other employs high school kids, and those that recently immigrated to our country. One charges $10 for a Big Mac, the other charges $3 for a Big Mac. Which restaurant are you going to eat in? unsure.gif

There She Stands! When will we as a people once again stand beside Her, hand in hand, and with one voice, loud and clear and determined, Pledge our Allegiance to what it is the the SHE represents? One Nation UNDER GOD!

Under who's god?

My son was 4 months old on 9/11. I knew the moment I saw the second plane hit that the world he would always know would be very different then the one I had known prior to that day. A thief in the night had stuck a resounding blow to the fabric of peaceful society. The lasting question of that horrific day for me is one word...Islam? I believe 9/11 changed the world by doing more then weaken the American financial system, rooting some level of fear in the minds of all of us we did not have prior, exposing many weakness and flaws in the federal goverment, sending America and her allies to war, costing trillions of dollars we still do not have, killing over 3000 of my country men and women....no 9/11 had even more lasting effects. Effects I fear will out live us all. 9/11 forced Islam out of the Middle-East and into the spotlight in the Western world and in the whole of Christendom. From goverments to normal citizens (like it or hate it) Islam is handled with more respect now then any other faith in the world. Critics of Mohammedans wisper and look over their shoulder, other praise the faith for being a "faith of peace". There can be no question that the men who highjacked those planes, cut womens throats, and killed so many had tremendous amounts of faith in their god. We can not argue that 9/11 was in many ways, however grossly misconstrued, an act of faith and as such gave even more way to the faithless. For many 9/11 faned the flames of atheism and with what reason can we argue that? Many have said "look what the religious mind is capable of, I will have nothing to do with any religion. Thank You". So in the west Darwinism seems to gain an even stronger foothold and that of course will lead to even lower brith rates and in generations to come Islam will grow even faster. No 9/11 started a ball rolling that it sadens me greatly to say I can not see stopping.

My master said "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." But that surely can be no way to run a nation. So and most unfortunately in the face of such a blatant failure of multiculturalism that 9/11 truely was, I, because of the action of that day am force to continue to ask myself...a nation should operate under who's god???

I love my country and I love my God even more. But I have a hard time commingling the two.

Have you been an employer Chris? Have you been responsible for meeting payroll? Have you had to file the endless endless forms and pay the multitude of taxes heaped on the small businessman? State Professional Business License, General Business License, Modified General Business Tax, Personal Property Business tax, State Unemployment, State Work Comp. County License, City License, requirement to have Work Comp Insurance, and General Liability Insurance etc. etc. Have you had to deal with worthless lazy employees who won't do their job, so you fire them so they can file for unemployment benefits? Have you had employees who ran up over $3,600 in long distance telephone calls calling her boyfriend in California? Have you had an employee steal $1200 in cash from petty cash over 3 months? Or have someone tap into your $50,000 line of credit to pay her husband and herself and lie to you about the sales they have made? After you fire them you find thousands of leads generated from very costly advertising that have never been followed up on. Have you had an employee come to you and tell you that she came in to work early and found the office manager and the sales manager naked on the couch in the waiting room screwing? They were both married, just not to each other! I HAVE! And you have to be so careful how you fire them because you don't want to get sued for wrongful termination, or accused of being prejudice in your hiring or firing practices. I've been in business since 1977 and I can tell you good employees are the exception, not the rule.

I used to have 17 employees. Now I have none. I can do the work of 17 employees a lot better, more efficiently, and with no hassle. That's pretty sad that I can do the work of 17 worthless people. I can do the accounting, the sales, the shipping, the ordering, the stocking, the taking of pictures for ads, the website development; I can even make a cup of coffee and clean the toilets all without bitching.

Let me tell you something about the small American Business Man, we are sick and tired of the government taxing us every time we fart. And we are tired of worthless lazy dishonest workers. So, I won't hire anyone. Who do you have to blame? Big government and lazy workers who think they are entitled to a paycheck whether they do a good job or not.

I fired 17 employees cut my costs dramatically and my gross sales went down significantly but my profits only dropped 10% But my headaches dropped to ZERO! 17 whining moaning ingrates were only making me 10% profit? Sorry, I have to have a much better return on my investment to put up with the crap those 17 people were handing me.

The majority of America workers SUCK! Some of my best workers were older people, who had a great work ethic. Take Gus Lagerstrom, Gus was fantastic, but he got to where it was time for him to retire. Work ethics died with our generation. Don't forget I wrote, developed, validated and published the most widely used Work Ethics Test in the world. It has been independently validated by more Universities than any other test of its kind. It is still in use today. Over 800 companies use it all around the world. 56% of American work applicants can't pass it. You know why? Because they think it is OK to call in sick if you aren't really sick. They think it's OK to file a false Work Comp claim to get even with a boss. They think it's OK to give their friends their discount even if it is against company policy.

The unions have fostered this mentality. The company is big, they have lots of money, lets get as much as we can and do as little as we can; SCREW THE MAN. I was a member of the UAW, I worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company three different times. All I ever saw the Union do was get jobs back for worthless bums who had been fired. Then I had to put up with those assholes and do their job and mine. I NEVER had trouble with my supervisors because I went above and beyond.

One of my jobs for Caterpillar was Benefits Investigator. Guess what percentage of guys who were off sick, or injured were fleecing the company? 78% of those guys who said they were too hurt to put in a days work, were scamming. I caught guys who had taken on other full-time jobs and were getting paid benefits from Caterpillar because they claimed they couldn't do their job pulling parts that weigh less than a pound. I caught them on their water skis having a grand ol' time. I caught them working as tow truck drivers.

Say what you want to about China, and Malaysia, but these people work hard. They have a work ethic, work is a big part of their life, it is part of their self-worth.

I saw what Unions do, they cost people jobs and they run businesses off. In 1984 Caterpillar had been struck by the UAW for 2 years demanding more pay and bigger benefits. However, the money was not there. KOMATSU had come onto the scene and was providing quality heavy duty equipment at a lower price and really causing Caterpillar to lose money and market share. They begged the Union to look at the numbers and to be reasonable in their demands. But thje UAW said SCREW YOU, we don't care what the numbers are we want what we want and you can rot and die. Well Caterpillar finally gave in. The first week back to work Caterpillar laid off thousands of workers, because they had to make themselves more cost efficient somehow. And that started a series of events that led to the decline of Peoria, Illinois. The economy suffered, people left the town to move west where jobs were, and Peoria lost it's tax base and it has never been the same.

Then there was TowMotor this was the forklift division of Caterpillar, the factory was in Mentor Ohio, population around 50,000. Caterpillar employed 2700 people. Once again the GREAT UNION, protector of the worker, tried to bully it's way around, and Caterpillar did what so many companies do, they felt unappreciated and they were just sick and tired, so they closed the plant and moved to S. Korea. That's what the Unions have done for the United States. In their day the Unions did some great things when companies were thugs, but we have laws that regulate work hours, other than that, a person's productivity is what should keep him employed, not his seniority.

Here's my source, but I know the facts first hand.

http://ech.cwru.edu/ech-cgi/article.pl?id=TC4

"Towmotor, which had seen minimal labor trouble throughout its history, was also hurt when Caterpillar was chosen as a strike target for the UNITED AUTO WORKERS (UAW) in 1967, 1971, and 1983. Faced with foreign competition, slumping demand, recessions, and labor disputes throughout the 1970s, Caterpillar became an outspoken advocate of shifting production to its more cost-efficient overseas facilities. Towmotor was one of the first subsidiaries adversely affected by the unfavorable market conditions as employment at the Mentor plant dropped from 2,700 to 622. When workers at Mentor and eighteen other Caterpillar plants in six states went on strike in 1983, the company threatened to shift production to South Korea. A month after reaching an agreement with the workers, Caterpillar contracted with Daewoo Heavy Industry to manufacture lift trucks in South Korea and announced the closing of the Towmotor plant in Mentor. The plant officially closed in September 1985 after Caterpillar shifted all production overseas."

This is a country built on capitalism, and it is only right that the companies that are willing to put their neck on the line to do research and development have a right to make money. LOTS OF MONEY! I couldn't care less that the president of a company is making 80 gazillion dollars, as long as it's a good company and I am making a good wage. And if I'm not, then the free market allows me to go somewhere and apply for a different company to find better pay. My daddy taught me that I only had one job to do for any company. And that was to make myself the best employee they had ever hired and to make them realize that I was so valuable they couldn't afford to lose me. And I did that at every job, and I never had to worry about making good money. I was never fired, and always knew I could go back to any job I had ever left.

Caterpillar Tractor Company called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to be their benefits investigator. I hadn't put in an application. But I had worked their twice before and they knew my reputation and my work ethic.

We, the oldsters, need to start teaching the youngsters what our Daddies taught us. You give 110%, and you show some gratitude, honor and loyalty to the company you work for that helps you pay your bills.

This attitude of it's US (workers) against THEM (employers) is stupid and counter productive and it has been one of the reasons that we are where we are today. Like the ol' saying goes, I never got a job from a poor man.

Big government just likes to make it as hard as possible for businesses to do business. But you see, they have to tax the crap out of us because government is the largest single employer in the United States, employing almost 16% of the workforce or roughly 21 million people, who produce nothing, generate no profits, and cost us money. Any company that needs 21 million people and doesn't produce anything is nothing but a parasite on the rest of humanity.

Just like this crap about the minimum wage should be a living wage. NO IT SHOULDN'T! The minimum wage should be a wage that no one can live on so it gives people the incentive to get an education, learn a trade, do something with your life!

A LIVING MINIMUM wage is another trick of the socialists, keep them fed, keep them dumb. It is also a great scam along the lines of OBAMA's spread the wealth around. OK so now the minimum wage is raised to $20 at McDonalds. Who pays for it? Middle class Americans, we spread our wealth around via $10 hamburgers so we can raise a nation of imbecile $20 an hour burger flippers!

I'm all for welfare, but with a catch. You want it? You earn it. We'll teach you how to fish, but no more free fish! We'll pay for you to go to school, but you will get good grades and you will pay that debt back with 2 years of service. Or you will work in the school for free. No more FREE handouts. If your hurt, and your sick and you can't help yourself, then the state you live in will see to helping you out, because the Federal Government needs to back their ass out of the welfare business. If the Fed wants to do something constructive, then they can see to it that every man and woman who has ever been in the armed services in this country are taken care of with the best medical care. And that they aren't living on the street. They are heroes they paid for our freedom with their service and we OWE TEHM everything, and they deserve to be treated with honor and respect. God Damn It don't tell me Sally and Jill and Makeesha and Irene get to have their damn $300 hair extensions and $100 acrylic nails and then use food stamps at the grocery store while a vet is hungry and cold and sleeping under some highway overpass.

And the collective idiocy of a country that would elect a man like Barack Hussein Obama is beyond me. Knowing what we knew about this man. And what we don't know! He is a radical, he always has been a radical, he is a Marxist, he announced his candidacy for the Senate in the home of Bill Ayres and self-proclaimed radical extremist who bombed the Pentagon and says he wish he could have done more. Barack Obama who said he wants to SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND! Translated, I will decide who has too much and I will take it from you and give it to whom I see fit. (Think he's only talking about the rich?) That's a relative term. If you're making $20,000 a year, I guarantee that there is someone only making $5,000, so step up to the plate and give that poor bastard $7,500 of your money!) That way you will have $12,500 and he will have $12,500, only problem is you worked for yours. But hell if you have to give it away anyway, why should you work that hard? And so starts the decline into socialism where no one has anything and no one works hard because there is no incentive to get ahead.

In 1977 I had $2.98 in the bank. But I had paid for my education by working full time and going to school full time so I had a degree. I never took one loan to go to school, never accepted one grant or one single penny, I did it myself.

I took the title to my Chevy Nova to the bank and got a loan for $3000 to start my own business, that was 34 years ago. I got where I am because I worked hard and I treated my customers like they were precious gems. I'll decide how to spread my wealth around. And I do, via many different charities, but over my dead body will I let Obama do it for me.

I have to go take my blood pressure medicine now.

Doc

I got where I am because I worked hard and I treated my customers like they were precious gems. I'll decide how to spread my wealth around. And I do, via many different charities, but over my dead body will I let Obama do it for me.

I have to go take my blood pressure medicine now.

Doc

Bless you Doc for you understand what I was trying to say in a short few sentences. We as a country need to re-establish our standards and responsibilities. I had up to 200 employees at a time, on several construction projects, some in the ten western states and some around the world. You pegged my problems with your analysis.

GREAT JOB AND WELL SAID

Hey Doc and all

Remember this kid? He was a little younger the last time you saw him at a (maybe the first) Gold basin outing. He is happy as a clam. Here's a email from him.

Tomorrow I'm taking a PT test and if I pass then I'm definitely graduating. In 2 minutes I need 35 pushups, 47 situps, and a 2 mie run in 16:36. A few days ago I timed my 2 mile at 14:30. I think I'll be alright. I cut about 2 minutes off from my last test which I'm happy about. Anyways, I'm kinda nervous. When I go home remind me to hike Pinnacle Peak. We're gonna be out in the field all week. We're basically gonna be doing all kinds of craziness. Sleeping in tents, eating MRE's, 10 mile ruckmarch, Not getting any sleep, No mail either. We're pretty much playing soldier all week. It's supposed to be fun.

Kinda reminds me of this letter...

Dear Ma and Pa,

Am well. Hope you are. Tell brother Walt and brother Elmer the Army beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before maybe all the places are filled. I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 5 a.m., but am getting so I like to sleep late.

Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot and shine some things -- no hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing. Men got to shave, but it ain't bad, they git warm water.

Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc., but kinda weak on chops, potatoes, beef, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie, and regular food. But tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit between two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you till noon, when you get fed again.

It aint no wonder these city boys can't walk much. We go on "route marches," which, the Sgt. says, are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it is not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys all get sore feet and we ride back in trucks. The country is nice, but awful flat. The Sgt. is like a schoolteacher. He nags some. The Capt. is like the school board. Colonels and Generals just ride around and frown. They don't bother none.

This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep gettin medals for shootin. I don't know why. The bull's-eye is near as big as a chipmunk and don't move. And it ain't shooting back, like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lay there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes. Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join up before other fellows get onto this setup and come stampeding in.

Yore lovin daughter, Gail

P.S. Speakin of shootin, enclosed is $200 for barn roof and ma's teeth. The city boys shoot craps, but not very good...

Here's my source, but I know the facts first hand.

http://ech.cwru.edu/...ticle.pl?id=TC4

DOC,

I have been a small business owner, but not to the extent that you have been. I'm sorry if you took offense to my post as it was intended to be towards the "Corporate American Greed"; Corporate being the main word. I completely agree that the government taxes small businesses too much. 99% of small business owners I know are struggling to stay afloat because of over-taxing by the government. But at the same time, when you have a multibillion dollar a year business whose owners are sitting on millions in cash and even more in assets, they can afford to pay more than minimum wage. I understand that business owners are in it to make money, but I don't think that citizens should be lining up to go to work at a place where they are still hungry and on the verge of homelessness so the owner can take extended vacations in the Bahamas.

And the problem with lazy workers, thieves, etc. is the fact that most people are not held accountable for their own actions. I am a teamsters member (unfortunately) at my job. I pay the Union $65 a month to be a member and represent me. I missed deadline one time on a vehicle because our parts department forgot to order the part. It was completely beyond my control. I got wrote up and suspended for 3 days. My "Union" didn't do squat to help me. 3 weeks later another employee comes to work drunk, get's in a military vehicle, and proceeds to drive it halfway through a building. What did he get? he got to go home that day, then was sent to a paid "rehab" facility where he spent the next 30 days WITH PAY, and then got to come straight back to work. The same guy, after getting out of rehab, came to work drunk again 2 months later and this time ran over a c0-worker. He is still employed. My point....I bust my ass at my job, do very good work, and I get suspended for something that was out of my control. The lazy, drunk co-worker gets a free vacation, almost kills someone, and still has his job.

Unemployment should be based on the circumstances under which you leave your employer. If you are fired for stealing, being an idiot, or anything else that you could have controlled, then you should be denied unemployment. Costs are just a part of business and they can't be avoided. When a business owner just sits back and lets everyone else do the work (and I AM NOT insinuating that you do because I know better), then those workers should be allowed to live comfortably as well.

ROFLMAO. That is priceless, and ain't it the truth!

My kids had to have an intervention with me last week and tell me they thought I really needed to turn the solar heating up because the pool water was getting a little cold. NO! Honest to God! I'm not lying.

That's their big challenge for the week? Getting me to heat the pool up some more? What a bunch of pussies!

When I was a little boy we would go visit Grandma and Grandpa. No running water, no toilet... outhouse, and pot belly stoves. Grandpa taught me to take a couple of newspapers, and fold it in four and tear out the middle to make a hole. Then you put it near the pot belly stove to warm the paper up. Then you put in under your coat, under your arm to keep it warm and ran like hell to the out house and spread the warm paper on the wooden seat over the hole. Grandpa explained that there was a certain way to put the newspaper down, so when you were sitting you could spread your legs and read the Lil' Abner cartoon. TRUE story!

Too Funny! I am still waiting for my mortgage to be paid, and my free gas at the pumps from my Obama money, the money he is going to give me from his stash.

I wonder how all these idiots feel that thought they were going to get something for nothing if they voted for Obama? I'll tell you how they feel. Just great because they are so stupid that can't put 2 and 2 together and realize that they were scammed. They can't even recite the Pledge of Allegiance, but they know when their welfare checks come. But what do you expect, their leader Obama thinks there are 57 states; yes, there are, 57 MUSLIM states.

Come on you know that anytime this man is talking he is lying. The NEW JOBS BILL that must be passed now! And don't worry it will be paid for. Now we find out how; TAX INCREASES of course.

What do you expect a man who is so devious he releases a doctored and fraudulent birth certificate. And yes I downloaded the certificate from the White House website and I can guarantee with 100% certainty it is a fraud. It has layers. A scanned document does not have layers. Only doctored documents have layers. I can bring it into Corel Draw and click on different parts of it and take those parts and pull them off the document. That is proof positive it is a fraudulent document.

Let's explain it this way. YOU want a REAL picture of a chess board showing the position of the pieces. A REAL PICTURE! Not a REAL CHESS BOARD. So you are presented with two chess boards, ONE is a picture, One is an actual chess board. Let's assume for a minute that you can't tell the difference by looking at the two. But what you want to know is which IS THE PICTURE, not the actual chess board with pieces. How do you tell? Go ahead and move the pieces. You can't move pieces on the REAL PICTURE. However on the chess board you can move the pieces, which means if you can move the pieces, it's not the picture.

Well you can move pieces on the OBAMA birth certificate like a chess board, this along with other facts indicate this is a blatant forgery. And let's not fool ourselves. Everyone knows he's not eligible to be the president, but they are faced with a very large problem.

What do we do? If we acknowledge it is a fake then we have to impeach him and take him out of the White House in shackles and prosecute him; and risk mass rioting. Or we can decide to just disregard our Constitution and look the other way. That is what we are doing now; looking the other way and allowing this imposter to finish his term to avoid wide scale rioting.

My Uncle owns a roofing company in Monterey ,Calf. at one time he had 15 guys working for him, it costs him $11,000.00 a month, in insurance, and other stuff before he draws a pay check, he's been a roofer for 50 years, owned his own business for 35 years, He just layed everyone off, and filed bankruptcy, because it cost tooo much for permitts he has to have, GOV. regulations, OSHA, inspectiuons, and Hazmat permitts. not to mention he has to carry over $1,000,000.00 in insurance just in case something he or his crew does to a house and it burns down or something. He just closed his doors. Not one employee now, The cost of doing business is just too high here in Calif. with all the regs. from the feds, and the state, and don't forget the greenies. Grubstake

Doc

I think you should have stuck with the Flag and God. My work ethic, like yours Doc, has never been questioned. While I can not condone corruptness in unions I can not condemn the purpose. You can blame the people for the corruptness, and many other things, but you can not blame the Union itself. If the unions did not exist, I'm pretty sure whether a person works union, or non union, none of us would be making the wage or other benefits we are today. I also feel that if unions were to disappear, things would revert back to some unfavorable conditions. So, if you are for or against unions doesn't really matter, if you think it's tough to make a pay check stretch now, see what happens when they are gone. Every person who works for a paycheck has benefited due to unions.

If you have such a strong distaste for union money Doc, I will refrain from sending any more of it your way. Just promise that you won't send me anymore US flag lapel pins and wrist bands while they are still in the package that says MADE IN CHINA.

Kenny, I am glad you have a good work ethic. How many of your co-workers have as good a work ethic as you? I don't condemn the purpose of unions, I condemn their short sightedness that has cost Americans jobs.

And you are right there was a time when Unions sprang up because of a need to stop abuses by employers. However, those abuses have been codified out of existence by federal laws. Precisely what conditions would return without Unions? Longer work weeks? NOPE federal law. I mean think about all the companies that run today without Union intervention. And you know darn good and well if there was something that wasn't right the employees would be organizing under Union leadership to correct whatever it was they thought could not be addressed through laws.

I benefited from what the Unions did when I worked at Caterpillar via wages and benefits, but I also suffered from them not standing for what was right. If an employee was fired for good cause, then they should stand up and say sorry man, you have a responsibility as a Union member to represent us in the best possible light, you let us down and you let the company down, and now your out! They shouldn't threaten employees who are doing a good job and try to get them fired like they did me.

When I worked at Caterpillar I was approached by my Union rep and told to quit turning in such detailed long work reports, because it was making everyone else look bad. I told him, I was just doing my job, to the best of my ability, and I was told, to only do it to half of my ability, OR ELSE! Yeah right, I just kept on doing what I did, and the union members started a concerted effort to make my life a living hell. Reporting that I was afraid of heights and I didn't check the pressure on one of the cooling tanks that had to be checked 4 times a shift. You had to crawl 3 stories into the air in a caged ladder. I'm not afraid of heights, I am very respectful of heights. But I always checked that tank exactly as I was supposed to.

I got called in by the company foreman and said he that a complaint had been made about me two weeks prior that I had not been checking the cooling tank 4 times a shift at the predetermined times. I said that's a lie, and why would you wait two weeks to tell me? He said because it took 2 weeks for us to have security do surveillance on you to see if you were checking the tanks. Not only did you check the tanks every time, you checked them at precisely the times you were supposed to. Why would someone say this about you. I told them my story about being warned to quit doing detailed reports "OR ELSE." My Company foreman laughed and said, "That explains everything. I'll take care of it." I said, "Shit no, don't do anything, god knows what they will do next." He said don't worry about it, you'll never have to worry about it again. (I thought oh crap they are going to fire me.) By the end of the night I was offered a white shirt and tie job promotion in the office, a non-union position at 1 1/2 times what I was making in the plant. So I've seen first hand how some unions operate, and it's not ethical and it's not right.

None of what you said changes the reasons for my feelings. 2700 jobs in Mentor Ohio gone to S. Korea, WHY? Because the UAW was inflexible. Hundreds of workers laid off in Peoria Illinois in 1985, why? UAW inflexible.

Manufacturing jobs in the U.S. gone! Trade deficit at an all time high. Steel plants closed. Big government regulations, EPA and inflexible unions.

I have an assignment for you. Find me one manufacturer in the U.S. that makes cloisonne pins, or silicone wrist bands, JUST ONE! Not one who says they make them and then farms them out to China. No one makes those items in the U.S. NO ONE! I know, I already spent hours trying to find companies that did.

Strong distaste for Union Money. No, I have a strong distaste for Union leadership that doesn't protect it's good workers and do what is right and moral and consistent with good work ethics. Union leadership, that despite warnings that a company has to remain competitive in a global economy, tries to bully a company into compliance, and in the end loses everyone's jobs. That's pure stupidity.

Some of these Unions would rather drive a company into the ground, rather than partner with the company and insure a successful company and secure employment for their membership.

I have seen it time and time again, "They bite their nose off to spite their face."

Then we have the same thugs running some of the big unions as in the past; Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Jr. who said, and I quote. "President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong."

This is the face of the leadership of the union. Are you going to tell me this kind of union rhetoric makes you proud; by no less than Jimmy Hoffa Jr.? There's a family with a proud law abiding reputation.

A Union should be positive asset for both it's members and the companies they contract with. Their goals should not only be to protect their members but to partner with the company to insure the company makes the profits to meet the demands of their members, and be able to gladly meet those demands.

Kenny

My daughter sent me this this morning

Allen in MT

New Pledge of Allegiance"

> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

> Now I sit me down in school

> Where praying is against the rule

> For this great nation under God

> Finds mention of Him very odd.

> If scripture now the class recites,

> It violates the Bill of Rights.

> And anytime my head I bow

> Becomes a Federal matter now.

> Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

> That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..

> The law is specific, the law is precise.

> Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

> For praying in a public hall

> Might offend someone with

> no faith at all . . .

> In silence alone we must meditate,

> God's name is prohibited by the state.

> We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

> And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks . . .

> They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

> To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

> We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

> And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

> It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,

> We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong . . .

> We can get our condoms and birth controls,

> Study witchcraft, vampires and

> totem poles . . .

> But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

> No word of God must reach this crowd.

> It's scary here I must confess,

> When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

> So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

> Should I be shot; My soul please take!

> Amen!

I have a question for ya... there's two McDonalds restaurants less than a block from each other. One only employs college graduates, the other employs high school kids, and those that recently immigrated to our country. One charges $10 for a Big Mac, the other charges $3 for a Big Mac. Which restaurant are you going to eat in? unsure.gif

Azblackbird- The $3 & $10 comparison may be a little unrealistic. If it were more reasonably a $3 & $5 comparison that's different. If it was a Home Depot I would go with the $3 price.

If it was a Mickey D's with the $3 & $5 price that would depend. On service and food quality. If the $3 restaurant gave me the wrong order often, had to wait longer than the $5 restaurant, if the $3 order taker didn't speak english well. Whereas I needed to repeat myself often or didn't understand them. The $3 restaurant food was cold, or the ice cream cones were smaller than the $5 restaurant. If more diesel noisy and stinky trucks used the $3 then the $5 restaurant. Sure they shut those trucks off when they order, but what if you are right behind them and it's your turn to order. If the order taker in the $3 restaurant is an often nasty female that gives you dirty looks, because she doesn't want to be there. Need I go on? Everyone has a breaking or comfortable point. Sure I would go with the $5 price. I would even feel my food is more safer to eat.

To be more forum correct. Would you buy a detector from Kellyco or Rob or Chris.

Unions, They work well with larger companies but not for small. They help manage the workers by policy. Thus relieving management to run their business. In public service back in the northeast, there is rarely layoffs but disipline is addressed. Union members do not want lazy or disruptive workers and their days are numbered.

Abortions and same sex marriages. Yea it's personal. But my thoughts few can argue with. As a republican I changed my political not religious philosophy on them. So I no longer oppose them. With abortions and same sex marriages or whatever. There would be a lot less democRATS being born.
