shep
Just sent my 4500 off to Woody for his latest mods. Can’t afford the 7K, didn’t like the 2300, so here we go. When Minelab ‘couldn’t fix’ my detector some 6-7 years ago, Woody did and made it a lot quieter. Have read every report and think this is the best way to go. Have a brand new EVO 12”. Sincerely hope I can find something the Ol’ Marine missed, this fall. Will see you this fall, stay cool and safe!
Mike Furness
Shep ... Be sure to let me know when you are headed to Q ... Plan to do a lot more camping/prospecting this year now that I am 'free' again! Thinking first trip may be a bit warm yet but sometime mid september. Dakota Slim
I thought you had a 5000. If not, they are getting cheaper every day.
shep
Slim, just my opinion but I think the 4500 is a better machine. I've found some pretty small pieces with mine, but prefer the larger ones ;-)
oldies1955
Will be interesting to hear what you think about it at the Q! Cant wait for the cooler weather.... Tom
shep
Tommy, I'll be there with bells on my toes! (rubber). I am so ready for Q again. Some cooler weather, some gold (haven't seen any new in several months) and some old friends.
andyy
Shep - Please let us know how that 4500 mod works for you from Woody. It would be much appreciated. Not sure why Minelab doesn't make these mods themselves. Probably just keeping costs down.
Uncle Ron
Shep, I agree with you about the 4500, but have to say I've found bits as small as the GB2 finds with my old 2100SD ... I can't wait to get back out again! ... It's going on 2 years since I last swung the coil! ... Cheers, Unc
Admin nuggethunting Posted August 23, 2016 Admin Report Share Posted August 23, 2016 Hey Shep, Did you happen to get your GPX 4500 back from Woody yet? Curious on how the mod is doing?
shep
Rob, not yet. He's constantly doing mods to his mods. Saw a Utube last week with him out in the field. When I get it, I can play in yard, but first real test will be at Q, Sept or more probable October. Will let all know. I'm hungry!
shep
Another point to consider; bought a 12" EVO last spring and haven't been able to use it yet. First results won't prove anything particular. After 5-6 nuggets, I'll go back to NF 14E mono and let you'all know. ;-)
