Yuma, AZ or across the Kaleeeforneeeaa State Line, worth a go?

There's some good areas around Yuma on both sides of the border ... Laguna Mtns. to the NE a few miles near the Laguna Dam ... Further north is the Trigos Mtns ... Directly east is the Gila Bend placers ... Chocklet mountains to the West ... Southwest of Laguna in Kali is another sizable placer area that I don't know much about ... Find a detector dealer in Yuma and inquire ... Also, pm Bill because he is familiar with that area too... Cheers, Unc

Thanks Unc...you're awesome..... I had no idea it was such a rich area... with those choices I'll stay on the AZ side so I can carry my IAD on my hip while i'm out there.... much appreciate the help.

(It means "Illegal Alien Deterrent", I don't believe in calling an "Illegal Alien" an "Undocumented Immigrant" any more than I believe in calling a "Drug Dealer" an "Undocumented Pharmacist")

Jen... Trigo Mtns Placers: A former gold placer mine/deposit area located in secs. 1&2, T.2S., R.23W.

Mineralization is spotty gold placer deposits in stream beds draining from an area containing small gold quartz veins in Mesozoic schist.

Workings include dry placer operations on a small scale, and intermittently, from as early as the 1860's into the 1940's. Possibly as much as some 323 oz. of gold were recovered containing a few oz. of silver.. Good Luck ... Cheers, Unc

Jen; be aware that much of the Colorado river is in some form protected from wicked prospectors thanks to the don't-have-any-fun feds and the tree-hugger alliances...

Also, the Pothole area near Laguna dam is mostly claimed. The Southwestern Prospectors Assoc has several claims there...and the Tribal Land is a very BIG NONO...

There is unclaimable land on the Zoner side along the canals and River...with no-access Military close...welcome to the land of the free.....

If you have questions you can pm me...

Thanks Fred... while i'm a dual citizen and spent most of my life living in the US and Australia, I was born deep in the heart of logging and sadly tree hugger country, in fact they're a little more militant than hugging up here... they spike them with huge nails so the loggers chainsaw chains break and risk killing the loggers... Compassionate people those huggers are. The huggers are easy to deal with..... see below.

And where I am sitting right here in placer gold country, I have SEVEN different indian reservations around me so I totally understand what you're saying... thanks again.

Jen

Hey Jen,

A lot of old placers in that general area. Just about any direction from Quartzsite is gold bearing. Many good, but worked gold placers no more than 15-30 minute drive from Q. Be careful around the Indian Reservations and Bombing Ranges. There is still a lot of debate on the Bombing Ranges, but I know for a fact the CRIP Indian Reservation is off limits (although many continue to sneak in there). A few nuggets and the fact you have to look over your shoulder all the time is not worth loosing a metal detector and fines. I'm not sure if they arrest you or not, I'm not taking that chance.
