Which boots

Which brand non metal tactical boots for a good price should i buy and wear while metal detecting?

Billy

I know the books always talk about getting "non-metallic" boots (basically Nike running shoes) but I've never had much interference from my boots using Minelab's with big coils. Just extend your shaft out far enough and pay attention where you're swinging and you'll be OK with regular hunting boots.

I would agree with Tortuga regarding which boots. I have always used regular boots that have some metal in them. If you all ready have boots just use them and keep some distance between coil and your boot. But, saying that...I do have to admit if your using medium size coils 14 " or larger you really do have to watch your step forward as it will sound off the detector. I have used redwings and I do like the solid built and thick leather boot for support and they are much better against snake bites than some of the non metalic boots.

Bates 2280 model, they are the only boots to use. Absolutely no metal. I have been selling them over 10 years, and my customers keep coming back time and time again.

They are waterproof, which I could care less about except that because they are waterproof they are dirt proof. They have a very aggressive cleated sole.

100% positive feedback on these boots $119.95 All sizes in stock for immediate shipment.

Check LA Gear. I wear 14-15's. Can find metal less boots on there at good prices. I have a pair of Converse (side zip, replaced the metal pull w/ a leather) that I've worn for 3 years for work and play. Thread is still good, just wore the top of the toes off. Just replaced w/ Reebok's. The Converse were $60, Reeboks $113, but comfortable. Not throwing the Converse away yet

I've always used Aussie boots.

These are great in really rough terrain, gives me the feeling of really solid footing, wouldn't want to slip over on the 7000......it might end up in pieces, not like the old military grade units!

Truly metal-free, even the zip tab is nylon, not a peep from the Zed.

Olivers website has a printout available so you can measure your foot and get the right size.

Last year I bought a pair of what I thought were metal-free uniform Delta boots.....they were a Chinese copy....had a strip of metal the size of a box cutter blade in the insole, cheap cheats.

I think if you use a 7000 you should have totally metal-free boots, Auto GB can be affected by even slight metal interference. I keep my pick well away form the coil and set it down well away from the excavation.

Hey Guys,

For years I swore by the Bates Boots Doc sells, but last year a hiking guy turned me onto these extremely lightweight hiking boots. I believe they are 4-11's or something, will have to look at them again. They have aggressive traction, no metal and crazy lightweight. That being said, they are like $200 per pair, but I love them so far.

I forgot to mention they are only 3/4 tops, not high tops.

P.S. I only put on the Doc's boots when I'm hunting other people's patches! :o

Adam:
My boots are the same way if you lace them all the way up.

I just lace them to the midway point then wrap the laces up around the leg part and tie them off.

Lot easier going on and off that way.

How come you didn't tell your father about that trick? Thanks-a-lot guy. I'm going to try that next time. I do have a time getting them on and off, belly's in the way.

New balance is the boot for me. Nice and light and no metal in it. But then I don't have anything handy to reference my detector to when I get into an area that is completely quiet. Have to drop my pick to get a sound.
