summer Fors Fun

Recommended Posts

Hello

Went out this morning, last day of my little vacation. Went detecting with Fors Gold to a previously detected area at my cousins property. Managed to find 4 more pcs of gold for 2.8 dwt. The mineralization there is really hot. But Fors gold cut through it like butter. Hope to get some cool 90 degree weather again soon and get back out.

Hey Californiagold,

Sounds like the ForsGold is doing well. You mentioned it does well in trashy areas also. Are you able to gauge the discrimination when you hit a target to tell whether it's ferrous or non-ferrous (potentially lead or a nugget)? How well is it working?

Congrats on your success. Wishing you many more nuggets.

Yes Rob you can tell the difference between ferrous and non. I run the Fors in boost mode which is a disc mode. Its target id's are similar to my old gb pro. 40 or higher are non ferrous. So I had a 20 something 54 then 20 something all in 1 swing. And it repeated each swing. So I knew I had a piece of non ferrous in there too, in the iron junk pile. In boost mode it also has a 2 tone signal. So the targets I hit would grunt on the iron junk and beep for non ferrous all in same swing. My wife also did very well with gpx and camo coiltek elite. But she dont post her gold. She was getting some really deep gold with it. And small. Shes running xtra sens. And deep. With rx turned up at 16. It does sound like she gets alittle ground noise in patches here and there. She doesnt like to get around the iron piles so I hit those with fors gold.

Take care

I'm sure chris can tell you some about the Fors. I seen that he did a video. Surprisingly most the gold we found in past few years has all been shallow. We hit those spots again with gpx and figured we would get as much if not more because its deep ground. But only getting a few pieces left over by vlfs. Alot has to do with the deposit characteristics. But before gpx we hit the previously hunted areas by other vlfs. And fors gold was able to pick up quite a bit more. Its just deeper then other vlfs. Hope you enjoy your Fors gold.

I dont have a 7000 , but does it have discrimination to hunt in trashy areas?

Take care

Thanks Doc, for that detail. Im not a electronic engineer, but I cant believe they dont have any display and target id's on PI detectors. With the gpx, im allways digging tiny 1/4 size boot tacks and junk. And thanks for the gold screamer Doc. it makes the 5000 alot easier not having to wear a harness and a battery on your back. In case I had to run from a bear I can drop the gpx and the bear can eat that instead of me.
