copper nugget

Recommended Posts

I was out in rands area other day. In the el pasos. Found an area that didnt show any signs of placer mining. Just a few shafts and lode mines. I found a place that was redish and looked like it was just a bunchbof broken quartz and other tyoes of rocks all cemented together. It made the walls and bedrock in a small canyon. So i detected it. I dug out what looks like a natural copper nugget. It was cemented in this material about 14in deep. I chopped for about half an hour hard to get this stuff to break up and dig it out. Id love to post pics but im using my phone and it keeps saying file too large. I can txt them to someonenif they can post them for me. Imnpretty sure its a copper nugg.

Yes. It has the green oxidizing and also has like a small piece or round rock in it. Also when u scratch the surface u can tell its copper and natural. No way it could be a bullet where i found it. The walls and bedrock is like cement. I wish i could get my phone to post it and the material i dug it out.

John:
Put it in some muriatic acid(pool acid) for a while. It will fiz off all the alkaline stuff and clean the copper.

You would be surprised how cool it will look.

As usual...do it outside :)

Thanks frank c. That nugget weightls about 1. 2 grams. Its about the size of a planters peanut lol. The other pics are of the walls and bedrockbif the small canyon wash. It was about 6 ft wide and about 8 ft tall. Just solid all around. No loose dirt anywhere. I did also dig out a lil black rock that resembled a meteor that screaed. But when i smashed it it was like just black rusty iron built up. None the less it was still an awesome adventure just to get out.
