A few hours on the new GPZ 7000 Metal Detector

Hello All,

Today I managed to get a few hours on the Minelab GPZ 7000 on some hammered nugget patches. After a few hours on these two patches, I dug a handful of deep rubbish, some lead and some gold nuggets to boot. No biggies yet, but the small ones were all out of range of the GPX 5000 and the SDC 2300. The unit was a bit heavy after a few hours, so I ended up using the swing arm that comes with it.

Come see us at the Mesa Gold Show tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28th & March 1st) at the Mesa Convention Center to see the new GPZ 7000 first hand. I had to get at least a few hours on the unit and some nuggets under the coil to answer any questions that might be asked. I'm by far a beginner on the unit, but do have some actual field time on the unit and found some nuggets displayed on the coil below.

It's an awesome detector and I can see some lunkers on my coil soon enough!

If you think about it $9,999 is not that much if you consider a good ground penatrating radar or magnetometer can run you $30,000 and up. and they dont pick up larger/med/small nuggets very well in hot iron rich ground, if at all.
But their very good at finding large iron/nickel hotrocks (meteorites). sometimes you just need the right tool for the job.
or maybe the GPZ 7000 will also turn out to be a good meteorite hunter too.

I'm hoping the GPZ7000 will fill the gap.

Nice Rob, how many machines and coils over that ground?

Here's a few GPZ nuggets and other targets from another hammered patch. I'm confident the smaller ones were missed by other machines, they were deep(3 to 5 Inches) and right in the middle of the patch in open ground.post-25-0-75763900-1425094919_thumb.jpg

The larger 3.2DWT piece has me puzzled; it was only about 7 inches down and should have been heard by most any Minelab PI but wasn't. post-25-0-79011500-1425094964_thumb.jpgLater...Jim P.

Hey Guys,

Jim P. - Congrats on the nuggets and the larger 3+ Dwter. Hard to believe we missed that piece, but goes to show the depth ability of the new GPZ 7000. Thanks once again for your business.

AzNuggetBob - For a serious weekend warrior or someone that is getting out even more, 10K is not out of the range. When I was hitting the goldfields hard back in the 90's and 2000 time frame, a few few pounds of gold per year was bare bone average. There were years many did 4-5 pounds of gold. Heck, even if you found just one pound in a year, that is over $12,000 and would pay for the detector in one years time. I know people that purchase 10K vehicles and it takes them 3-4 years to pay them off. If you can pay a 10K investment off in a few years I think it's worthwhile.

GPZ7000Guy - Wishing you much success over there. Thanks for your business also. I shipped your other items the same day as the detector, so you should have everything, if not Monday at the latest.

Great hunting Rob, looks like you got the hang of this new machine in short order.

Looking forward to reading your summation of it once you get some hours on it.

I'm on the waiting list for the second batch, so just have to read the forums and wait, I feel like an expectant father.

They say up to 4 weeks wait, 1 down 3 to go. :girl:

Cheers

Kev.

Hey Guys,

AzNuggetBob - Ya, one big meteorite or a nice sized gold nugget would do it.

CoBill - I'm sure there will be some great finds with the GPZ in the near future. That being said, the GPX 5000 and SDC 2300 are amazing detectors also.

Alchemist - Why 4 week wait? I have them here if you need one? Just a FYI.
