XPDeusDan
I can't justify spending thousands of dollars to use a gold machine to hunt 5 or 6 times a year, so in the opinion of all the seasoned vets here, what's the best VLF for the money. I'b be in areas with the small stuff.

justindoober
I use a gold bug 2. It is awesome. I picked mine up for 450.
Mxt Sniper
I use a gold bug 2 also, its an amazing little machine for such an old design. Maybe the new Makro Racer Gold will be able to match the GB2, if so it will have an edge with the LCD screen for better id.

XPDeusDan
Boulder dash, that's about the size I'd be chasing around here That's pretty damn small !!
nugget108
That's what the GB2 will find. It's an amazing machine with that 6.5" coil. That's my VLF'S of choice.

Admin nuggethunting Posted February 23, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted February 23, 2015 Hey XPDan, No questions the Fisher Goldbug 2 is awesome, especially on small gold. That being said, I have done training on that unit for years and new customers really struggle on the manual ground balance and having to pump it up and down every few feet in mineralized ground. The Goldbug 2 is strictly a manual ground balance unit. The more advanced users love them and it's hard to find stuff smaller. I have found gold as small with my SDC, but I will give the edge to the GB2. There are many auto tracking VLF's that are great, but they don't operate at 71khz like the Bug2. XPDeusDan
I found a good deal on a GB2 I couldn't pass up, I'll see what I can kick up with it.
