Signal Enhancers

They are not necessary for the GPX models that have a built in amplifier in the battery, which is controlled by the TARGET VOLUME in the LCD menu. The amplifier that Bruce Candy developed is very unconventional and is superior to any aftermarket amplifier.

The inbuilt amp in the 5000 battery was not developed by Bruce Candy....... the problem with the inbuilt one is you don't have enough control over the volume of the detector when coupled up with speakers, its either just right in low noise areas or over modulating/distorting, it also lacks a bypass function making it hard to turn it off or down when needing to quickly talk with others or listen for potential threats.

Hey Guys,

Some great info on boosters/signal enhancers. I never used one on any GPX model, as the audio seems much higher to me. I did use one on the SD series (SD 2000 and SD2100). I didn't use the SD2200d very much, wasn't a big fan of it back in the day. I used a booster on the Extreme, GP 3000 and GP 3500 along with the Coiltek Pocket Rocket Li-Ion Battery System.

The new Goldscreamer Power Pack developed by Doc's Detecting is a unit that many are using on the GPX series. This unit has the Goldscreamer Signal Enhancer built into it making it not only a lightweight battery system, but also a signal enhancer all in one.

On another note, I also thought Bruce Candy developed the signal enchancer in the stock GPX battery. JP would you happen to know who developed it or is it just a standard enhancer with no real special feature about it?
