Some more bits with the Minelab SDC 2300

Hello All,

It's been a bit since I posted any new finds. I've been out several times in the last month, just hitting some old spots for a few hours here and there and picked up these pieces. Its amazing, as my partner and I both hunted these spots and missed these nuggets (ya I know) with the GPX 5000's.

Haven't weighed any of them, but my guess is 2-3 Dwt's worth of smaller nuggets.

It's out there ....

Nothing wrong with that. I know a bloke who brought a new car from bits that size and not much bigger. It was a lot of them, but he got a new car!

I was there when a guy who used to make fun of him chasing little bits and called them chicken pickings. The guy said to him "hey you know all those chicken bits I get, look what they got me" and pointed to his new ride. Priceless the look on the other guys face, never said a word.

Hey Roo,

Ya, the small ones add up no question about that. At my last count I was just over 200 nuggets, probably in the 225+ range now. My best guess without weighing all of them out is around 4.5 - 5 ounces of smaller gold. Well paid for the detector at full price ($3750 US) and then some. Most of these nuggets (80%) were from old spots, the rest from new places surrounding old placers.

Talked with a guy on the phone last weekend that ordered some supplies for his SDC and he said he was well over 1,000 nuggets from Northern Nevada old nugget patches. He said he hunts 6 days a week about 8-10 hours a day.
