Ridge Runner
Hey Digger Bob Thanks for the video. I'd be excited just to whole it in my hands. I wonder just how many have walked over it and thinking it's another tin can. This should be a lesson for all and that being is dig all. The next can may be a nugget like the one shown here. Chuck AndersPS I could eat humble pie if I could say I found it.Ha
Digger Bob
If I could find the picture posting link on here, I'd put up a shot or two of it being dug up.

Ridge Runner
Thanks Bob for posting the pictures. Not one in a life time but one in a million years. To find one like that I'd have to clean my pants first before cleaning the nugget. Chuck AndersPS Bob people will want to shake hands with the hand you held the nugget in for luck. ha Ha

~LARGO~
I would like to see a count of the people who swung a coil over this beauty, and walked away.I bet there are at least a few, and are kicking themselves for it, now that the nugget has seen daylight.Once you find a screamer, you'll never walk by another one!!Largo
JIM MCCULLOCH
Right you are, Largo. In a trashy site most of us ignore ear-bashers. Reminds me of a story Woody Woodworth told me. Detecting at a spot he had personally dry washed in the Depression, he got a ear-basher signal. Old rusty can. The another ear-basher. Again, an old rusty can. Seven old rusty cans in a row. Eighth ear-basher? A 3.5 ounce nugget. Woo hoo. HH Jim
~LARGO~
Hi Jim and all,You are spot on! I hunted in an area littered with old rusty, smashed flat cans which had been obviously in the area for years on end. I moved what cans I could see easily aside, then continued on with my gold detecting. I got a huge signal, which covered about 5 feet in width in all directions. Making a mark on the ground where the signal started and ended, I then turned 90 degrees, doing the same, marking on each side where the signal started and ended. Connecting the start/stop from each side, I then had located an X in the center, and that is where I dug. I dug about 20-22 inches, all the while the target becoming stronger and stronger. By this time, I felt that I had passed where any cans might be located, and I was right. Finally I found what was making the detector react so strongly, a nice 20 gram gold nugget. I wonder how many had passed over that huge sound, and assumed it was a rusty can??? I bet a lot!Looking back, and considering the width of the nugget, which is about 1-1/4"inches, by just short of one inch in width, ranging from 1/4th inch to 3/8ths of an inch in thickness, I think the flat side may have been up, which would allow for the huge signal being spread over such a width.I will try to post a photo of that nugget, IF I can find it!Largo
azblackbird
All the comments here are a great case for digging every target, no matter how much of a pain in the butt it may be.
wdu3164
Very Nice. Just about 2 weeks ago I was at Rich Hill with a friend. I was using a GB pro and kept digging small lead shot and pieces of rusted screen from a quartz vein running across a wash. I moved up about 15 yrds or so when my friend went over the same area I'd just left. He called out to me and said "wasn't" you digging here? I told him what I'd been digging and he reminded me that I should dig every target. I then returned. He and I then dug 3 more pieces of lead, then broke the whitish rock around the quartz and dug the last target. It is the one on the left. The one on the right was dug about 20 minutes later maybe 30 ft down the wash.
