Prospector's Research Tools

Recommended Posts

Land Matters has offered downloads of all the Historical and current Topographic maps for a while.

You can actually pick which year of topo you want for any area as well as the new style layered topos with aerial photo backgrounds. All of that with a few clicks on the Land Matters Topo Search Map.

With more than 280,000 topos available from that one interactive map some people have been a little confused on the process for getting any particular Topo map downloaded. We've put together a short video to show you just how easy that can be. :)

There are more informational videos on the Land Matters youtube channel and we have many more planned.

Hello All,

I have to say that Miner Diggins has came a long way. I can still remember meeting Barry & Leigh when the Footprint idea was first thought about and a friend of mine said you need to meet these people. No question, their hard work has developed some of the best mapping and claim research software available today.

Thanks for all your hard work, continued updates and exciting new additions in the future.

Your friend,

As they do twice each month Land Matters has updated the BLM LR2000 Mining Claims Maps.

This is the next to last update before the end of the Federal Mining Claims year. We are working on some graphs and charts to illustrate the number and type of claims made and lost through the year. There is a pattern that changes by state and season that a wise prospector can use to optimize their research efforts.

In the meantime enjoy the most up to date mining claims maps available at any price. :)

Barry

Rob's been a big supporter of Land Matters since the beginning. He's not one to make a big deal about it but I think he deserves some recognition for all he does for the community and for helping Land Matters.

In addition to his support for Land Matters Members with his 10% off discount on Coiltek Searchcoils Rob recently became the Sponsor of our two most popular Maps.

Arizona Mining Claims

California Mining Claims

If it weren't for the generous support of Rob, and others like him, Land Matters wouldn't be available for 24 hour a day free research and mapping resources.

While you are using those claims maps why not click on the Rob's Detector Sales logo at the top of the map and show Rob your appreciation for his support. Heck you could get a copy Jim Straight's latest NuggetShooters Bible while you are there.

The Land Matters internet server has been struggling with it's workload the last few months. It's not unusual for 1,000 or more maps to be requested per hour. Our Library and Map files downloaded now exceeds 80 Gigabytes per month. The increasing popularity of Land Matters has been pushing the server memory to the limit for about 90% of every day.

Land Matters recently introduced Membership Program along with a generous map sponsorship from Rob's Detector Sales and several anonymous donors have finally allowed us to expand the server memory and disk space.

We have now doubled the memory and disk space on the Land Matters servers. That means some scary new monthly bills but it really needed to happen.

In testing the new server configuration I'm seeing map creation speeds in line with Google maps. No more waiting forever for an aerial view to load. Testing the current Land Matters aerial layer we are now seeing speeds equivalent to the best mapping systems on the web.

With the addition of double the server disk space we will now be able to proceed with bringing you several new projects that have been waiting for the upgrade. I'll be posting more details on those new projects here as we bring them online.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of Land Matters. Whether you have found the site useful and use it to research or have contributed to it's support you are an integral part of Land Matters continued success.

And a special Thank You to Rob for his continued support!

Hey Barry,

Thanks for the comments. What matters the most is we all support this wonderful hobby we have. Sites such as Land Matters wouldn't really matter much if the hobby of recreational prospecting and mining got shut down or banned for good. We have to continually support the hobby and all that support it such as Land Matters, PLP and many more.

As many of you know Land Matters updates their free online mining claims maps twice a month.

Normally we get updates from the BLM servers in Denver on the 2nd and the 16th of each month. We just received word today that the BLM has been having difficulty with their database updates for the last month or two and now it's affecting their partner delivery system. Best estimate right now is we will see updates by end of day tomorrow January 6th.

If you were wondering when the claims map update is coming or when the Claims Advantage Member reports will be available now you know. We will bring those updates to you as soon as we have the information.

I tried LM today for about an hour and could not bring up details of claims around the LSD/Vulture areas....Cheers, Unc

Thanks for the info Ron.

The BLM has been having server problems for the last month or so. The basic claims information seen in the information window is direct from our database but the real time serial register page reports link depends on the BLM servers being reachable.

Sometimes you just have to come back later after they get things sorted out.

As they do twice each month the Land Matters Mining Claims Maps have been updated.

Not much change in California or Colorado this time - more on that later.

Arizona had some big closures in Mohave and La Paz Counties. Nearly 1,600 claims total. While you are using that free claims map click on Rob's banner at the top and thank him for sponsoring the Arizona and California Mining Claims Maps. About 7,000 maps a day are made on those two pages and Rob is the the one making that possible with his generous sponsorship.

New Mexico continues with the closing of a lot of claims in Sierra, Catron and Grant Counties.

Nevada topped this list again with more than 2,100 closed claims.

The most recent Claims Advantage Report is showing there have been 26,689 closed since last September 1 with at least 18,904 still to be determined. The bulk of those undetermined claims are in California, Colorado, Nevada and Wyoming.

Percentage wise California is the big hold up - they have processed 46 claims in the last 4 1/2 months with at least 3,477 claims still to go. That's a little more than .01% of their job done after more than 1/3 of the mining year has passed.

As we do twice each month the Land Matters  Mining Claims Maps have been updated to April 15, 2016.

These are the most up to date mining claims maps available to the public at any price. Thanks to our many supporters and great sponsors like Rob Land Matters Maps are free to use.

Other maps may have similar claims information but the Land Matters Maps include critical up to date information on land management and status as well as the only modern accurate Public Land Survey information available anywhere. You won't find more accurate or current mapping anywhere else.

The latest Land Matters Claims Advantage Reports are going out to members as I type. There are several interesting new developments this report period including a claim active in Colorado since 1888 being closed. Somebody held on to that claim for 128 years! I'm guessing there might be some good minerals there?
