Somewhat removed on your topic of dredging under the ice. When I was in Nome about a month ago, I was fortunate enough to to spend some time the Pomrenke's and see the clean ups as well as members of the film crew. Steve is a regular fixture at AKAu Gold and Resort and really a down to earth regular fella. Most of the drama is real but it does get embellished for sure. 500-700 hrs of filming goes into one episode so that's a lot of editing. There was 46oz in the box of this clean up. Looking forward to getting back up there again next year. If anyone wants to join the 1 oz club, you have a great chance of doing it up there. Missed my chance this round but there's always another hole to dig.

Cheers!!

Mike

Hey Mike

Thanks for the pictures and the story. I've been to Nome some years ago and have been to Greenland I'd say both about the same. Before all the gold shows came on the TV I had talk with a guy about dredging in Nome. We talk for a while but never heard from him again. I didn't write his name down so I don't know if he's one there now. Who knows he may have been all talk.

Hey Chuck, check out the AKAU Gold and Resort website. http://akaugold.com/ There was a couple of dredgers up there at the time when I was there. They have packages where you can high bank all week. Augie has several piles of pay ready to go. You can shovel 24 hrs a day if you want. Its pricey but well worth it. I metal detected the whole time. Now that I now know my way around I should do much better than my meger oz next year. The vial of gold came out of just a couple of scoops of cons. I attached some other photos out a hundred + I took. We had all the crab you could eat one night, fresh salmon almost everyday, fried, smoked baked, etc. REAL Sourdough pancakes, homemade bread everyday. You don't go hungry. And if you want, go salmon fishing for a bit with Augie. They caught 10-50 salmon almost everyday down on the river. I tried tearing apart an old tailing pile one day, no gold but there are other piles. There are some photos of some Anvil Creek nuggets which some different than what you find in the old tailing piles. One photo one guys nuggets who found 4 oz which shows what you can haul home if get over the top of them. Already getting ready to plan for next year.

Hey Mike

I see a guy wouldn't go hungry. The best part of me is I come from a long line of pot lickers. Sometimes the adventure is more excitement than the gold. Surely I didn't just say that did I ? Well may be a little gold can could help to make it all the best trip one could ever have.

Thanks for all the pictures and I will look to see what's offered.
