Ridge Runner
Sorry Bob I'm 73 and I've have yet to skip one. When somebody tells you your over the hill don't let it bother you. They will have to climb the same hills you did. The Best! Chuck PS That new 4 wheeler you had just got the last time I seen you is good for us older ones. The reason we don't have to remember to put our feet down when we stop.

P.S. been over 3 years since I was last at the Rye Patch country...Largo..

Old Tom
Happy B-day Bob. Any day above ground is a good one unless there is gold at the bottom of the one you're digging. Old Tom

DIAMONDBACKDAVE
Digger Bob. Can u please give a rookie advice on the Whites SIERRA SUPER PULSE ?. MERRY CHRISTMAS I.ve watched some of your Videos
Digger Bob
Hi Dave,Well, the SSP is essentially a TDI SL but without the two major controls. The Pulse is locked into 10, the lowest, and where you want to be for gold. And the conductivity is locked into ALL. I use both of these controls on my SL to help determine an iron target and to identify the occasional hot rock. But the SSP lacks these two.So, you will hear all targets, large or small, all iron, and the occasional hot rock. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means you have less control over how to set it up and what you hear. In a new area you want to dig everything anyway. As far as tips, it's pretty simple. Ground balance carefully, swing slowly, and dig everything. You will be surprised at how deep it goes and it's sensitivity to small targets. Large targets will give a low tone, small targets a high tone. Generally, you want to concentrate on digging the high tones as most nuggets are a 1/4 oz. or less. Once a nugget gets larger than that, it becomes a high conductor and the tone changes to low. The actual size where the tone changes will vary depending on the purity and shape of the nugget. So, that's why you dig everything, especially in a new area.Practice with some air tests of different sizes (use lead if you don't have nuggets). With the stock loop, you may notice two different tones when passing a 1/4 oz. target over the loop. That's because there are two separate loops at play here. You may get a high tone from the outer loop and a low tone from the inner loop. That's if it's shallow. If it's deeper, then all you hear is the low tone. Yes, it flips around. That's why I say practice in the air so you'll have a better idea what you are hearing out in the field.Hope that helps.Digger Bob
jim straight
Digger Bob... Over the years I have found your suggested settings the best to start withand only require a little tweeking to compensate for "your soil" viz the "soil others working." Wishing you a belated or early (your choice) birthday... tailgate
