Ccarson
Hey guys I have a problem with my eureka coil. The connection plug has a broken wire inside right where they soldered it to the little brass fitting. My problem is this. It's out of warrentie and I'm leaving on a prospecting trip up north on Sunday. I need to fix this but I can't find a diagram and I'm afraid to cut the wires and re do them without it. Any help thanks everybody
frank c
If only 1 wire is broke off you should be able to tell which lug it goes to and resolder.
fredm
That is right, Frankie...Carson, it is a delicate soldering job...cut a very small jumper wire and use it to redo the connection...you have to be sure and not mess with the other connections...you will need good vision and a steady hand.fred
Ccarson
Thanks guys it's just one wire that is broke but it looks like it is wraped around the one next to it.
fredm
Hmmmm, I don't usually stray where my knowledge is so very limited...i am guessing that there is a bare ground wire and maybe two covered wires...it does not matter really...the wires are so fine that you may need a magnifier to see clearly ( I do)...just find the one that is broked...Hopefully, one of the resident electronics wizards will help you...this blind mice (mouse)can do no more... DOC
Wrapped around the wire next to it???? Is it perhaps a shielding wire?If Trevor from Coiltek is about he can tell you the proper wiring sequence on the plug.I can't remember off the top of my head.Doc
Ccarson
I beleave it's wraped around one of the wires and soldered to its own prong. I Think there is another set just like it. But I'm not sure.
frank c
When you say "wrapped around" another wire it leaves too much speculation. Post a close up well detailed pic or 2.If you have a broken wire, and you say theres another "wrapped around" it leads ME to think the cord may have been twisted badly and you may have a wire shorting out against another wire or lug besides having 1 wire disconnected.Get some pics up OR have someone that has some experience at electronics take a look see for you. Admin nuggethunting Posted July 14, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted July 14, 2014 Hello All, I used to have the wiring diagrams for all detectors, but can't seem to find them. I would recommend contacting Minelab Americas at 1-877-767-6522 and let them know you need to talk with someone in repairs to get the wiring diagram. I know this might not help in time, but hopefully you will be out there long enough to get the unit up and running.
