Cooler Weather in Arizona

Recommended Posts

Most of the time I go nugget hunt in Az. is after the first of the year. This time I'd like to come as soon it starts to cool down day and night. I'm thinking I'd like to come out at the later part of Sept. Those of you who live there and go there from other States know if this can be without being too hot. I've been there when you start to go out here would come the rain over and over again but never a lot. The ATX will cover that this time.

So I'd like to hear from anyone on this subject.

Thanks

Chuck:
Sept can still be pretty warm out here.

Usually in the low 100s for the high and then around 75-80 at night. Which after going through the summer feels cold :)
Just because its 100 ambient you have to remember the washes are hotter. The radiant heat from the rocks can bump it up 10 deg. easy.

Heres a almanac of Sept 2013.

Hope this helps.

That's a good resource Tom thanks!

We usually spend summers in cooler climes. We try not to return before the first of October. It can still get pretty hot at the end of September and even in to the first two weeks of October on occasion.

We have spent summers here and if you spend the whole summer dealing with the heat the high to mid 90's at the end of September can seem pretty mild. It's all about your perspective.

Hey Tom

That was a great help to see just how hot it can get in the day time and at night. I could hunt early in the morning and late in the evening maybe. I sleep good in the heat of the day and the Lord knows I need beauty sleep.

Thanks Again

I hear what you say it being better in Oct. The sooner I get away from home the sooner I get out of ear shot of honey do.HaHa

It's nothing like seeing San Antonio in my rear view mirror and my nugget detectors by my side. Now that is a love that will keep you warm for a long time. If nowhere else but in your heart.

Hey Chuck.

Ive been going in Oct. Its hasn't been to bad the past couple of years. highs in the mid 80's and nights in the low 60's. It seems that the third and last week of Oct. bring cooler weather. I think last year I left on the 10th and there was a cold front that came the following weekend. I'm headed back out there oct. 9 thru 16 this year I think.

I'll just be gald to leave the humidity here around Houston. Seems like we have to wait til around February to get some real cool weather, then on short time.

Hi Bill

Thanks for your response on what has work best for you. I've just had to much going after the first of the year. Having get my tax together and the need to pay tax up front. Now that's more of a fun thing I wouldn't want to miss. Ha

You talking about Houston and I've was just there this past weekend. The last weekend of the month I've got to help my Daughter move out of the house she's in to another home.

Take Care!

Hi Chuck.

I will stay atleast a week. Not driving though... Been there done that... I found it is cheaper for me to fly Southwest cost around $300.00 round trip give or take, and I there in 2 hrs 45 min. early enough to hunt the same day I leave home. I rent a truck @ $ 20.00 per day unlimited mileage and stay at the Sierra Vista Motel in Congres. The Mgr Cindy is a great lady. (Thanks Mike F. for recommending it to me).

Sounds like your daughter has a good head on her shoulders. My daughter wanted to be a forensic scientist also. But after the attack on 9-11 her entire thought process changed and she joined the military instead.

I will be looking forward to the call, give me a few days notice though the Railway doesnt like to approve days off anymore.

It be a he or she they need to do what they think that's best for them. It's their life and we don't need to live it for them. Not Us. You said railway is that who you work for? I worked for the MOP years ago.

What you said about going to Az. sounds a great way to go. I plan on staying longer and I camp out on the claim and go into town only for supplies.

I have a map of the beach south of Houston were coins wash up and they think it has to be a ship somewhere there. If you don't know the area I'm talking about I'll send you a map.

The Best

Hi Chuck.

I work BNSF Railway. I've started about 10 yrs ago.

I agree with what you are saying about our children choosing their own way. If we choose for them that will never be happy. I certainly don't want my children to live my dreams. I want them to dream then live it to the fullest.

I don't know what area you are speaking of as far as the map. I have heard several stories about coins and clay cask being found. I don't really know where though. I'll send you a pm. What info will you need?

Hi Bill

Just give me time and I'll make copies for you and send them to you. It covers all of the Texas coast from one end to the other. It also shows some of the treasure found on the south of the Island. A friend some years ago got his hands on a book the State of Texas put out. The book was at UTSA and I don't think you were to remove it but that's another story. In 1967 Texas ran some treasure hunters out and took the treasure they had and them made it a national Sea SHORE so you can't metal detect.

Thanks Chuck I'll certainly appreciate looking at it.

The State Historicle Society did the same here in Brazoria Co. to a family that had settled he in the Peach Point Colony in the early 1800's. There land was deeded to them by Mexico or Spain, not sure. Anyway some artifacts were found from the Civil War Era and earlier, well word got around and now they are not allowed to do anything with the land but mow or run couws on it. There are still remains of 4 wooden slat shacks all in a row with the roofs caved in standing on the property but it belongs to the state now. He told me around 3 years ago that when the HIst. Soc first came to look around they came maybe 3 times, that was in the 1980's and they never came back after that. they just send him notice every year that he cant do anything with the property. I have spoken with several land owners over the last few years and they will not allow anyone

to look around for fear of loosing there land to the state. I cant blame them.

When the State tells you what you can or can't do with your land it's not but one thing to do. That's one night they burn down or pushed over. Things like this do happen and nobody knows who done it. The best thing you can do is don't let people like you said on your place.

I'll get back with you on the maps.
