LuckyLundy
Is it really greener on the other side of the hill? One of my old sayings is Don't Leave Gold to Find Gold! But a change of scenery is a welcome change to a prospectors mental or yellow metal madness. 7 of us loaded up for the Rye Patch hunt, we have had success with the help of a pointy finger a few years back from Chris Porter (local expert). Through the last couple years we've expanded the old no named hill top patch to a new area we call the Pickle Jar Patch, That Hill Side or Come See This one Patch! Rye Patch, yes it's been detected to death and we are years behind its glory days. But just like any gold bearing area, nuggets get missed. Secrets to Rye Patch is swing all day, every sage brush has 4 sides, check the open spaces between the brush and swing more. We still find gold very shallow and up to 18" deep. The ground is very mellow for any Minelab to have success, the key is just find something that beeps and dig every target! Our group ended up with 14.2 dwts for our 2 day hunt...until the next hunt!LuckyLundy

Nuggetslayer
Yep had a great time, and too many beers the first day! The gold fit in the poke perfect, but lots of swinging for my 8 nuggets. Chris thanks the the BBQ, and taking us out.

gus in idaho
Nice work Rick! Rye-Patch will always have gold.It is by far the easiest ground to detect I have ever been, but that doesn't mean the gold comes easy.Oh to be one of the first into that place. Smokey must have had a blast in those days.Take care bud.Gus-

AZNuggetBob
Way to go guys, no such thing as a hunted out patch, just takes a little more skill, persistence, patience and a good detector. BTW Rick A very good skill tip: there is four sides to a bush, especially in a pounded patch. Good luck and hope you pound more out of there.
