  1. Hi John Welcome to the forum. It seems a lot of us used to dredge back when we were a little younger. I don't know if we get tired or just lazy Looking forward to hearing from you again. Jim
  2. Riverman, I am using the 11" round Mono. It's not much of a noise problem, it's more of a warbling thing like a constance up and down threshold sound. I think it is the transformer that's about a 100 ft from where I am testing. I will find out when I take it out away from that. Jim
  3. Thanks Grub & inhere I am testing at home but I live way out of town. There is power lines with a transformer about 100 ft from where I was testing. Maybe that was the problem, I will have to take it further away and try it. Thanks for the reply. Jim
  4. I just bought my first Minelab detector, the 2100 old green box and I outfitted it with a Coiltek Pocket Rocket and with Doc's Gold Screamer. Also got the Black Widow head phones. The problem is, it seems less stable than it was without the Gold Screamer enhancer. Is it so much more sensitive that it picks up more interference? or I just don't know how to adjust it? Should I turn the volume on the enhancer all the way up or what? The only way I have tried it is with the volume wide open. I would appreciate any advice from you Minelab pros. Jim
  5. Thanks guys, Rob I will be calling you Monday to order some stuff, Like the Pocket Rocket, and Doc's Enhancer. I would have called you today but I didn't think you would be open for business. Todd, you got that right about the 6 lbs off my back but what about all that weight on my arm? I guess I will use a bungee. Jim
  6. Thanks Ron. So I have to buy the Pocket Rocket and the enhancer, Boy this is getting expensive. Oh well I guess you have to pay to have fun. Jim
  7. Does the Coiltek Pocket Rocket have a built in signal enhancer? Or is it just a stabilizer? I am trying to find out what will help the most, a Signal enhancer or Pocket Rocket? I am new to Minelab detectors. My first one, (SD 2100) Jim
  8. Hi Doc I like the analogy of the chocolate cookies. Yes and it does make since. Imagine that with my pea brain. I think you are absolutely right. That is the best explanation I have ever heard of how the PI machines pulse delay works. Jim
  9. Hi fredm I am still evaluating the TDI. I can not say a lot about it yet because I am still learning about PI's. Jim
  10. Digger Bob brought this to my attention. I have read about it on other forums. PI machines will detect gold nuggets very deep but when you dig them up, the signal becomes a lot weaker. Has anybody ever witnessed this? That is supposedly the reason PI machines will not air test very well. Is it the halo around the nugget before it is disturbed? Jim
  11. I am trying to start a new forum on the new White's TDI where field test or any info about the new machine can be posted. I will delete any bashing of this machine but I welcome any comparison to any other machine in good taste. TDI tech Jim
  12. Hi Chuck Yes if you remember the DFX and MXT 300 was out a few days before they were posted on their web site. The only thing I see different is the tone toggle switch and the color. I think it looks nice. I have one on order but I probably won't get one right away. Jim

  14. Wow I can't believe I actually won something. Well they say everyone will have 15 minutes of fame, I guess this is mine. I want to thank every one that supported me (by guessing wrong) LOL Thanks to Tony for running this contest. Jim
  15. Hey uncle ron I might be way off base but since you found a lot of blasting caps in the area, maybe that nugget came about a quarter mile from the source in the air, From a blast. Just a thought. Jim
