  2. I've investigated something similar for a period of time and this sounds questionable with a lot of unanswered questions. Typically a mining company doesn't offer 25% as I've never heard of this before. They want to own the land and possibly give you some level of a royalty like 5% in the mineral rights. Most serious mining companies will not enter into an agreement such as this without complete land ownership and that's been one of the problems with US Mining Companies. They are very concerned about the green legislation that has been rammed through congress over the past 10+ years and cannot invest $20 million to develop a mine then have the next elected official shut them down or something gets passed through legislation that ultimately kills their operation. The million dollar question is those core samples. 1. How deep? 2. How many core samples? 3. How much gold per ton or cubic yard? 4. What type of gold ore(s)? The ore(s) type can also be a killer. Many of these ores lend themselves to cyanide leaching which means transporting the product to a mill site. The equation of mine has always been: Will the ore pay for its way to the mill site and the processing? If you have 1/4 or 1/8 oz ton then it would need a flotation process to concentrate before transporting. Even if you find free milling gold on the surface don't let that fool you. Most mines will turn into an Ore after you've gone into them by 20 to 60 feet.
  3. The only way to pull this off and live comfortable is to hit the mother lode while keeping your day job. Searching parks for a couple bucks and hopefully a cheap gold ring won't cut it. You're off to the races looking for large caches but this requires a lot of research and money unless you get unbelievable lucky. The only way I've ever seen someone have this existence is a combination gold mine plus metal detecting on the side. Even then it was a meager lifestyle involving a live-in shack and run down trailer home. It was without a question a no frills lifestyle. So you are living on the claim and working in a hole 40 hours a week while always hoping to hit the big one. Plus, if its not private land you'll always have the govt looking over your shoulder.
  4. While Calif seems to bearing the major impact of these green movements which have demonized mining in any form it's been spreading everywhere like a wildfire. It seems the govt wants us like captive sheep. While I don't live in Calif the ramifications of this will be felt in many of the western states which have dredge values in the stream beds. I will not be the least surprised if other states may try to follow suit which might have an endangered trout somewhere hiding under a rock. The problems are the major amount of our populations live in big cities and rarely go outdoors except except to go hiking on a designated trail. They could care less about these bills which our founding fathers would deem unconstitutional which allows them to easily pass the govt litmus test. But in the long run don't worry about it because we can buy our gold from Latin America and China along with our aluminum, steel, copper, uranium, talc, tungsten, moly, oil, glass, silver....along with our cars and clothes. We've got lots of money and a healthy overpaid employment market and can afford to continue sending it overseas by the billions and trillions, right?
