  1. Awamazing Chirs..well done...happy for you... in one hole...always check those holes!
  2. Hang in there grubstake...I'll say some prays for you. Guido
  3. Well I'll stick my neck out...The more I look at it it does not look like a meteorite...I would like to say you found one there Rob, but only the experts can really answer this one. Resembles in some respects...but the more I look at my samples they are different. I know there are allot of variables out there in this game. The oxidation value seem too high in the photos compared to the Gold Basin variety. If it is a meteorite I assume the iron/nickel of 17 to 25% content of Gold Basin samples is lower that your sample. Good Luck on the analysis...Guido
  4. Well; I will be there later on this year when all is ready contributing to military ops, but I wont be taking my GPX out and about in that country!
  5. Your welcome there Largo...Sorry the plate setup did not work out for you initially. I have used it on the SD2200D and there is no problem with that setup. I thought about making the cable longer, but I cannot break into the Sound Enhancer box without wreaking the lid cover since it is screwed and glue together. I did think about cable splicing, but the cable would look nasty and not very flexible as well. Just ask Doc if he has anymore of the longer version 11.25 inch cable Sound Enhancer versions. I really like the angle and location of the plate not to mention the weight savings and money of not having stock battery. I will make sure the 4000mah battery is charged the day before my outing and let everyone know how long it lasts. Guido
  6. Copied and paste from Doc's site... As far as I know an seen on his website he does not sell Carbon Fiber uppers. ac-FSO $220 Complete Fiberglass shaft Just transfer your handle, bungee knuckle, and arm cuff over to this fiberglass rod and take some weight off. Rather than having the upper part of your detector shaft being metal, this gives you a heavy duty fiberglass shaft all the way up to your control box. The more metal you keep away from the coil of your detector the more sensitive the detector is. Comes complete with an extra long heavy duty lower rod, and works with all Minelab lower fiberglass rods. Reference http://www.docsdetecting.com/docsplace/coiltek/coils3.html
  7. Doc does sell a fiberglass version. I checked his website and I cannot find the Carbon fiber version. Guido
  8. Hey Largo..hows it going for you. the Gold screamer amp did not come with this setup! As for the cable coming from the Gold screamer I had this problem too! I needed an amp since I did not get the GPX4500 battery/amp combo. I have been in touch with Doc since last week and today about this problem about the cable being too short for the plate setup for a GPX. I asked him if he can get a custom made signal amp with a amp cable length of 11.5 inches...well he did some measuring in his stock room and found a sound enhancer with a power cable length of 11.25 inches long. So I said, go ahead and send the unit and I will try it out...it dont think a quarter of an inch will make a difference. Well guess what...that part came in three hours ago an as you can see in the picture it reaches! So give Doc a call and tell him what you gave Guido I need...Guido
  9. This is a copy from the sellers site on Ebay...A new lightweight battery (LITHIUM POLYMER BATTERY)for backing up your SD or GP Minelab detector. This is a Lithium 4000 mah battery hardwired to a Minelab power connector and female headphone jack. Just charge it up with the included charger (a cigarette charger not an AC charger)and pack it around (only 8 ounces) (((the actual battery is 5.3 OZ)))for an extra 3-4 hours of detecting. Just slip it in under your detector box or Velcro it to the side . No serious beeper should be without one. Some of my friends even use this system full time as they detect less than 4 hrs a day anyway. Put it on charge at lunch and your good to go again later that same day. Charge time is usually the time you used it to get it back full. Max is about 3.5 hrs to charge. As for other ideas this as it says comes with a 4000mah battery at 5.3 oz, but you can get a 5000mah version weighting in at 8.2 oz. and it last 20% longer. Now a coiltek regulator/battery set up is 15 grams heavier, so not that much weight saving with a 5000mah, but it saves on space in the backpack or belt. Or you could just get extra 4000mah batteries two or three should cover the day...This does not come with a voltage regulator...As for the GPX4000 the low voltage 7.3 and shut down is 7.1 according to the manual. Again I will be out in the field so to try it out. Guido
  10. By the way its a long story but I did not get the GPX4500 battery with the detector and I was using the coiltek battery/Regulator version instead. I could not see myself pay so much money for a Minelab GPX4500 battery/amp combo so I went this route. I will do a field test this coming weekend...maybe Friday if I am lucky...P.S. I think the control box would be more stable/balanced if the battery was on the bottom of the box and not Velcro to the side...Guido
  11. Hello Grubstake...A SD/GP version on sale now on Ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/Minelab-GP-SD-Battery-Backup-Gold-Detector-Drywasher-/260615453818?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cade43c7a (copy/paste address) for $85 dollars...The one I got was a buy it now for $150 and it started at about $110 I think...I dont like to wait and do bid wars...If you contact seller tell him what you are interested in...It would be nice if Minelab made a battery slider holder box at the bottom of the control box...Guido
  12. I didn't have time to include the battery picture the way I wanted to with the Carbon Fiber topic. Product came from Ebay under Minelab...Here it is, Should save some weight and space. Always like tinkering...Guido
  13. Hey Fred...thanks for the heads up on the Carbon Fiber shaft...I got the part very fast! It looks impressive! I did the weight check and the old fiberglass rod weights 170 grams or 6 0Z and the Carbon Fiber is 135.3 grams or 4.7 OZ. It cleans up pretty well since it does not have groves in the shaft. The lock up ring that tightens to the lower shaft is a quick lock up compared to the old multiple-turn stiff version. Not Bad for $90.00. The other picture is a battery pack I plan to use hopefully this weekend. Website http://accuturnmfg.angelfire.com/ ...Guido...P.S. Thanks allot Herb!
  14. The shear stupidity of the of America teachers is absoluty amazing. I am wondering what country they represent. This political corrective crap is killing this country. I didnt do 20 years in the military for their dumb illegal ass. They need to go back to there point of origin and take care of there HOME. Now it took the good old USA a long time to get what we enjoy and take for grated everyday. They start walking on in like we own them something. You owe yourself! And its going to take hard work and many decade to get there. This is our country and we earned it!
  15. Hey Srferjo714...hows it going...I have been playing around the El Paso mountains south of the Narrows and on the southern foot of the mountain, the bullets are killing me! Didn't know you were in the area. I will be banging around there with my Sd2200D and hopefully my recently acquired GPX4500 as well for the next four weekends or so. The jobs taken me to Palmdale for a few months and weekends are mine!. P.S. that's quite the hole you got there...Guido
  16. Whoever did it drove the truck 50 miles away from Las Vegas and .5 miles into the desert around a large hill where they could not be seen. Pretty sad case all they way around. This is why insurance rates are up. When I started to walk up to it off the jeep trail I was getting nervous when I saw a small hole in front of the drives seat position. Guido
  17. Out and about in the desert today. Found the usual bullets except the following in the enclosed pictures. I saw this truck from afar and drove right up to it since the hood was up I thought someone was in real trouble about a hard half a mile from the freeway off ramp. As I got closer it looked more like an abandon truck...well walked up to it, no bodies or bullet holes, but they beat the hell out if it that's for sure. It looked like it was vandalized and left out there for a week or so. It was relatively clean on the outside. The battery was removed, all tires flat, most panels have an impact on it, all windows smashed, engine compartment relay box rip apart, something impacted the engine air filter area, back seat gone, front bumper and grill ripped out, rear bumper tailgate gone. I decided to call 911 since I could not get a non-emergency number. I talked to the 911 operator and I read to her the plate number and she said, this vehicle is stolen! I had to wait for the cops to come...After he saw it he thought it was most likely a insurance fraud case. Weird things you find in the desert!
  18. Man that's great, the email I sent to Ebay said they would investigate the postings within 72hrs, I was hoping that was just a computer generic response. Now everyone can see why corrupted sellers have a 24 hrs time limit on there items and for a low price/email me/ is asking for trouble if they buy such GOOD DEALS. Some people can be so low is disgusting. Guido
  19. There are over twenty postings of this guy jjmilitarycertificates is the seller, bids starting at $99.99 dollars , less than 24 hours left on the bids and the classic, BUY NOW $1700 dollars...I have already contacted Ebay...Guido
  20. Hello Chris...Thanks for the complement...Can you or someone you know make these units in mass? That would really help out the folks...I bought the paddle from Paradigm Corp. (Tactical Gear) Mr Wesley Chin...702 395-5321. I asked for just the paddle and he hook me up. Maybe they could be bought in a lot or something like that...Just food for thought...Guido
  21. Hello all, I believe I have made improvements to the hipstick process and would like to share them with you all. I have noticed that the hipstick belt ball anchor portion on the waist is uncomfortable and unstable as well. The enclosed picture is a hipstick ball anchor cut in half and screwed on to a Paddle Holster, A Paddle Holster is a concave shaped piece of plastic or stiffened leather designed to be worn against the body inside of the pants. It seems to work well as a gun holster, so I decided to try it on a hipstick setup. Las Vegas had a gun show not too long ago and I bought a paddle without the holster, price $10.00 dollars. I drilled a hole threw the hipstick ball anchor as you can see in the picture and glued it on as well. After finally having a chance to take it out in the field for the first time today here is the preliminary report. The (paddle hip) is EXTREMELY stable, the old version slides back and forth or longitudinally, since there is more surface area and concave to distribute the load to you hip it stays in place and is more comfortable as well. The only bad side I can find this early is the hipstick is mounted lower than at belt level, so you will lose about 1.5 to 2 inches in height so you sick will be a little bit shorter. The epoxy did not hold but the screw did. The epoxy may not do well with this kind of plastic. As for the hole that is drilled threw the front to the back so you can use a hex head tool to tighten the anchor ball to the paddle. I noticed I can drive the truck now with the paddle hip still on my hip with little discomfort as well. Also I have noticed it works better with a belt as you can see in the picture included. Guido
  22. Wow..shes a beauty...Hey Uncle Ron those Garret Stingers makes one hell of a door stop. Guido
  23. Just makes me sad and mad seeing such huge and awesome...I guess nuggets may not be a good word for them, being cut in two by people not in the knowing...and yea...I am sure there government will not allow that kind of wealth spread around...you can kiss that "we should spread he wealth around" good bye...Thats a bunch of B.S. Can you say National Park, Wilderness, Preserve etc. the common citizen does not have that privilege they say...Jerks all of them. Guido
