  1. I will be visiting the Phoenix area this weekend and want to take some relatives gold panning on Saturday. There will be some little kids so they prefer not to travel too far. I was thinking of going somewhere north of Lake Pleasant along the Agua Fria, but I don't know the area well or the likelihood of finding gold there. Does anyone know of an area in this reason where we will be likely to find a little color and directions on how to get there? Thanks James
  2. I have to agree. Jim Straight is a very friendly and helpful person. Very generous! Thanks again for your thoughts! --James
  3. I just hope they don't cause problems with landowners and claim owners and then leave the fall out for the regulars. If any newbies read this post. Please remember to respect property rights and fill your holes. Thanks. --James
  4. I like lanier's under the chin headphones. That way you can wear whatever hat you want. They dont cover your ears which I like because I like to hear whats going on around me. Mine also comes with an adjustable volumen control on the cable. They have great sound because they are made by a transcription company for professional transcription devices. They do need a converter for the connector if your detector takes quarter inch. They can be hard to find, but there is a guy on ebay that has had them for sell at a reasonable price. lanier is the manufacturer. --james
  5. I mostly prospect and sometimes detect around town, but I don't have much experience on beach hunting. Can anyone recommend any good books or web sites on how to read the sand/ how to determine what areas of the beach tend to be better than others? thanks james
  6. I don't know how good the price is, but there is a gp extreme case on ebay that has 3 days left for a starting bid of $75. it pulled up under a search for minelab. --james
